Lola's last day...

Today was Lola's last day of Kindergarten. This is going to be hard for 2 reasons.

First, Lola is my shop helper, and she comes with me in the mornings and then I walk her up to the bus stop which is conveniently located just a block from the shop. She chic chats with the customers and is my hang out pal.

Secondly, her teacher Marti M. has become a wonderful friend, and i will miss seeing her the days I dropped Lola off at school. She is also Pregnant with her first, and I can't wait for her to discover the wonderful world of motherhood.

It's hard to believe that we have been here in Illinois almost a year.
We are headed back to Colorado for a mini vacation next week, so hope to fill you all in on the going on's when I get back!

don't come knocking.....

This sign hangs from my front door, and i love it. My friend Lisa, who makes these and has a thriving business in Colorado, making these and other lovely signs, has agreed to let me carry them in my shop. I can't wait to show more pics as they come in.
If you want to pr-order (they should be here next week) just let me know:)

Any day now....

French girl rings
french girl boxes
lavender laundry sachets

I know, I know.......what is taking so long to get things on my web site right??!! Well, first it started with my 7 year old dropping my camera in the bathtub. Then, after ordering a new camera, which I just had to have the same one that Sara uses, my 7 year old then decides to break my laptop. So there....you have the story. He now owes his mom and dad $1000 +. Any allowance that he earns from this day forward is going to pay for the new gear.

This is the goal, o.k. 2 more weeks......

hmmm

Fresh Lilacs for $4 a jar.

The lilacs didn't last more that 10 minutes and between 2 people, they were grabbed and hauled off for a mothers day treat.
These Lilacs were right out of my garden and displayed at The French Flea.

This was yet another lovely day at The French Flea.
I opened the doors at 10, right on schedule to the frenzy.
What is it about wanting to be the first one in the door? The anticipation, the elevated awareness that something good was happening?

It turned out to be a decent day, weather wise, and a fun one at that.
So here are some pics of the day, it was fun!
I'll keep you posted for the next one.
Have a Happy Mothers Day!!!!

Love finding new things

It's a given, that I will be at the flea market here in St. Charles the first weekend every month.
I normally am scouting good finds for you, my friends, the tossed aside, lonely, no hope for her piece of furniture. I come around a corner and see a wonderful find, buy her and then take her back to the shop for the "Lola" makeover.
She get's cleaned, primed and painted.
Yesterday, I found a piece for myself. Normally I would not spend so much, but I saw her sitting in a corner and had to have her.
Somebody at some point had every intention of re-doing this piece, since the drawers are stripped and it shows the wear under the cream paint, but I saw it and had just the place to put it. In my dining room, under a clock and loaded with my favorites (old sheet music, cigar boxes, and a bird bath filled with sea shells).
I know the pic is a little crooked, remember I live in a 100 year old house, and the floors tend to be a little uneven. OR maybe I've had one too many glasses of wine (thanks Amy)!!!!
So, with that said, I am one of those that likes to post at least once a week for those of you that need your "lola" fill.
O.k.
business relations! Remember..............French Flea is this Saturday at 10 a.m.........I think you will love some of the things i've done....and also remember that I'm closed from Sunday the 11th thru Monday the 19th for a "LOLA MAKEOVER"
