The room that sold me my home

When we knew that we were moving to Illinois, I only had one house on my list for the realtor to show us. It was this one. Can you guess why? This room, this closet, this walk-in closet is what sold me the house. If you've been reading my blog for some time, then you can remember this post, about how I would have the closet looking good in a month. Well, it's been about 6 months, but it's just about there. All I want is a small armchair, or settee to go under the window. I believe that this room used to be called the "tandem third", since it is so large. Let me also add, that behind the wall of hanging purses, is storage, perfect for suitcases. There is also hidden storage behind all the hanging clothes {which makes for a good place to hide when playing hidenseek}.

{ wall of hats, purses, and pins}

What woman wouldn't want a walk in closet, a "real" walk in closet? Listen, it was a haven for collecting things for the last year, and it took almost 6 months to get it to my liking. Small steps to big rewards girls! It's all about taking things one step at a time.

I'm a little disappointed in how clean your closet has gotten. I was thinking (hoping)that messy closets are a sign of genius and artistic talent! I guess you'll tell me to go up and fold my own clothes now.
I really love the dress form gal. I've been wanting one myself. The old wire ones are so cool.
Is that a scale hiding behind the table. Put that thing away! Christmas is coming.

I cannot tell you how envious I am of this. I had a gorgeous walk-in in my last apartment, a studio of all places. It had a window and enough room for a chair. I miss it *so* much.

Um, this is too good to be true. Get out! And you have it decorated just perfectly! I am quite envious. We don't have any "real" closets but we have a bunch of large cupboards scattered between the 3 rooms upstairs so I have 4 closets. Totally hard to keep track of what I even own since it is all scattered around. Love, love, love yours.

you lucky girl. this room is about the size of my bedroom...cottage cozy is so overrated. the house we live in is considered a cottage...and cozy is just another word for small.

WOW. I have to laugh at the reasons we buy the houses we do! And I would fully have supported this reason. What a beatiful closet, decorated so lovely as well!

Thanks for sharing yet another wonderful part of your home!

I had a grand walk in closet in my last house and it was so difficult to leave. I still miss it. Yours is vintage and lovely though - a closet to be desired and admired. And a chandelier on top? All I can say is - WOW!
