planning....

I've been in the planning mode......and mood..........
We love a good outdoor party...really...who doesn't right? Right now i'm in the middle of putting together a little soiree {i love that word} for my sweet hubby's b-day. I don't know about you, but my hubby could really care less what type of party we have.... not me....{duh}.....i'm sure he just wants a few guys and some beer..............oh....there might be some beer........and some guys.......but i am sure he wanted to crawl under the table when i said......"honey......let me take care of everything............except the bill of course"......
I'm pretty sure he rolled his eyes......
anyhoo.....
I ordered the sweetest burlap banner last week, the same one I saw while i was in Spokane...you can see it in the pic above......and you can find it HERE.
One of the best things about living in the Midwest is all the huge green tree's......perfect for stringing lights from............I also bought a bunch of white paper lantern balls to hang as well....
I'm at a crossroads as to choose whether or not to include lovely little children or not. I have the sitter booked just in case, but it would just be lovely to have a child free evening as well as having children running around.....but having children also means having things for the children to do.
oh...the drama.....
how about a firefly catching contest? ......of course i would let PETA know that we are letting the fireflies go after they are caught.....
now there is an idea......
or we could roast them over the fire pit.......
just kidding PETA.....

Are you planning any gatherings soon? Do tell.....
I also hope i'm not the only one that feels like I can't keep up with posting so much?
So hang in there.....
and have a lovely day my friends.....
xo
{thank you Tara for letting me use your awesome banner pic}

KASEY!! that is gorgeous, I love it and I think it should be an all adult party and the more the merrier! And, can you come over and plan a big ole birthday party for me in my backyard?? you are just too cute for words!

P.S. what are fire flies? ;)

P.S.S. Yes, I am free to come to the birthday party as well, thanks for the invite...your hubby and I can meet then, i am sure he won't mind, right??

Everything you pictured is gorgeous! Hmm, how about a paid teenager to host the children in watching movies and drinking from clear juiceboxes so as to not stain anything pretty in the house, and possibly host the games...so that adults can stay longer? Whatever you do I am sure it will turn out just fabulous!!!
I am also on board with the inability to post often, this is our hectic time of year, from Mother's/Father's day and 4 birthdays within 5 weeks we get pretty busy! :)
Enjoy your party planning!

do you love all the CA girls asking about fireflies?

i married into the midwest life - and my hubby's family calls them 'lightnin' bugs' - smaaaaaall town in Southern Ohio.

i'm planning our annual 3rd of July party - and MOST DEFINITELY can't keep up with all the posting now that there is a person looking to me to be their day camp activities director...

i say no kids. the fireflies will be there the next night :)

xoxoxo

i too like the idea of adults but the kids are fun too! i'm sure my hubby would want the kids, since he's really a kid too!

we are planning a big annual bbq next weekend, and I'm a little behind on the decorating work...I usually pull it all together pretty well at the last minute...
you've got me inspired and energized!!!

Ooo, that sounds like fun. So, are you providing the sitter for all the children or just your own? Do you put it on the invitation... I never know how to handle things like that :)

This sounds so fun! Wish I lived closer :) I live the banner, I will need to make one!

I absolutely ADORE that banner!!!!! Oh my goodness.

So funny you mentioned fireflies...I was just dreaming the other day that I want to spend one evening of my life where there are fireflies...what do they look like anyhow? A dragonfly, a butterfly, some kind of moth? all we have here in northern California is pesky mosquitos, they don't light up or do anything fancy, just bite you. I think the posting often is for those Super Woman kind of gals, which clearly I am not. Two or three a week will have to suffice. Best of luck with the birthday bash!

I think we all ordered that banner! Now I have to plan the party...now that we have a lawn. I vote kids, but with a sitter or two to entertain them (believe me, middle school girls LOVE to help out at parties and take care of the littles). The party will be a huge hit...minus those pesky fireflies (John's family is from Oklahoma, so I know what they are...)

I love the decorating. It looks very inviting and so summery. I don't even know your husband, but I still want to come to your party. Well I opt for no kids at your party, but that's just me. I am with mine all day long plus I take care of other kids so you can no doubt understand my take on that. I crave adult time with friends and date night with hubby. Enjoy and let us know what you decided ;-)

For those who want to see a pic of a firefly (url above) We also have them here in Quegec, Canada. Hope you have a great party.

Oh, to live where there are lots of green (anything) trees and lush landscaping! I can't wait to see pictures of your guaranteed-to-be-gorgeous soiree.

Im good if I can keep the kids and chickens fed. It's crazy round here and I miss school. I brought the two girls to a fabric store today...mistake and 1/2. Just so know...I love school too~

I just added that banner to my favorites on Etsy the other day. How do you keep reading my mind?! lol

The party sounds like it will be nice. Hmmm...kids or no kids, that's a tough one. My hubby's birthday July 7th but I'm not having a party. Instead we are going to do a big barbeque in August.
Having a bit of trouble keeping up over here too. With the kids home, it gets harder to sneak in quality blogging time.

Kasey I just love hearing what you are going to say. Your blog is quickly becoming one of my favorites. No matter what you decide with the party I'm sure it will be lots of fun.

An idea would be to hire a sitter to entertain the kids at the party, so you are freed up to be the hostess.

It is going to be so fabulous, I just know it! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Yeah, it does seem hard to keep up with blogging these days ~ I guess summer is like that though. Soon we will all be holed up inside for the winter time, blogging out hearts out ;)

You just don't quit for a minte, do you girl?! I'm sure it will be amazing...as far as including the kids goes - I don't know if it's all the blasted rain, the constant bickering all day long, or a combination of the two, but I am so over including the kids in social plans, an adult only party sounds heavenly!

I simply adore a good kid-less party... :)
We usually host a wine party around the holidays, as it is very easy to have it be kid-free, but I want to host a summer party under the stars. I just have to figure out how to gracefully only invite adults... Let me know if you figure that out!

(and yes I like children - I have four of my own little monkeys!)

I love your plans for your soiree, Kasey. Beautiful banner. And yes, we're planning a party at the farmhouse for Canada Day, July 1st - a pig roast. Badminton, croquet kite flying and blowing bubbles for the kids. White paper lanterns hanging from the branches of our BIG tree in front of the farmhouse. But you know, I think I need a banner too!

i'm sure its going to be the perfect event!! you are obviously a great party planner my dear.
the banner rocks!

um, *I* don't have an outdoor party any time soon....can I attend yours?

I absolutely adore that banner! Thanks for the link, I'll have to head over there when I am done here. As you can tell from my blog, I have felt that way for a little bit now. With all the end of the school year things to do, then I was sick, now I am trying to finish the last details of my upcoming collection and my poor blog has been left behind to collect dust. I hope to get back into the swing of things soon but summer is not shaping up to be very relaxed or slowed paced for me. Sigh. Soon right?
