Weekend love...

I am late.

No...

not that type of late you silly girls....

I waited till the last minute to order my cards....

so i will be spending all weekend addressing them.

I don't know about you...but i don't have all my address'

saved on my computer.

nope.

I will be hand addressing them....

but you know what...

i am ok with that.

I might not be able to hold a pen come monday morning..

but my cards will be addressed...

stamped...and out the door.

I am also heading to a cookie exchange at my friends home this sunday night.

I have a love-hate relationship with these.

I love getting together with a bunch of friends....

ooohing....

aaahing...

over the cleverness of who baked what...

all the while drinking wine...

with the best part of dividing up the ooodles of

cookies.....

that come home and

evil eye me from the kitchen.

Gingerbread cookies calling my name...

lemon drops yelling profanities at my thighs...

cranberry bars pushing me off the scale.

I was at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago and came across a new line of their flour and sugar.

The sugar came in a pale pink bag...and i almost bought it...but i just couldn't...

but this blue bag of flour...

was toooo cute to pass up....

i might even break out the ole

french cookbook for fun.

Maybe even stuff a duck...

possibly oie braisee aux marrons...

that means braised goose.....

i don't think so.

or make some choux de bruxelles.

uh huh...

that's just a fancy name for brussel sprouts.

speaking of love hate relationships....

i found this galvanized tray on wheels at Ikea.

It is a plant pot holder....

but i had a different idea for her...

i have been looking for a lazy susan type

of tray for my kitchen table.

I've looked high and low...and came across this

a few weeks ago.

It's on wheels so the kids can slide it back and forth

as needed to grab sugar...some pepper...or what not.

I swear i always find the things i need at Ikea but

in a section not pertaining at all to the product in need.

I am off to measure some flour....

xo

Oh!!!

the three winners of the lola b package are:

*Piece of cake

*Shop with lulu
*Family matters

It's 1:24 a.m. and I'm still up...with my boxes of Christmas cards sitting beside me, along with my address book, and like you, I've vowed to get them signed, addressed, and mailed out...if not this weekend...at least before Christmas Day! Love that blue bag of flour, it could almost inspire me to do some baking! Merry Christmas Little Soul Sister!
P.S.: Congratulations to the winners of your giveaway!!!!

Just sent out our cards yesterday, No picture again this year. Kids say NO they are too old..Grrrr, did the cookie exchange a few weeks back too. Baked 100 cookies and came home with more than that. Half went to the husbands office the other half, well they didn't last long around here. Have fun, xo Jamie

Oooo hun...i feel for your fingers and you haven't even begun :P
That takes time and dedication...this in which you have i see. Personally i find it better to hand address them as well. It shows we took the time instead of slap sticking a label.

Luv the cart you placed on your kitchen table. What a clever idea...i honestly never would have thought of that.

I just finished hand addressing all 200 of my cards today. MY HAND IS KILLING ME...

But I LOVE that they are hand addressed and signed. To me it means you really care.

Love T.J's. Don't know what I would do without them, and I saw that flour and the sugar. So adorable.

have fun at cookie exchange! :)

Happy baking and writing your Christmas, I just got the last of mine out today, I average close to 100, yikes, and they are addressed handwritten. I have done this for 39 years now, I just love getting them in the mail, so I make sure mine do go out. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Florence

Hey you got one up on me :) I am thinking "New Year" cards sound nice this year :)...& to buy flour for the packaging ..that just goes to show that packaging does indeed sell the product! :)

Merry Christmas to you!!!

Your Christmas cards are beautiful!
Oh how I wish I had an Ikea near by, although on second thought, maybe it's better that I don't!

I haven't finished mine either. I keep thinking that since I ordered them and they are on the counter someone else will get them done....hint hint to my husband, not!
Love your Christmas picture of your family!

I'm as organised as ever - NOT! I thought I'd been really clever and got most of them out last week, only thing is...I didn't work in chronological order AND forgot to mark on the list which ones I'd sent - ooops! Oh well :O) Your card is gorgeous, so cute. And I'd have bought that flour myself and maybe just had it sitting proudly on my shelf, suggesting that I might be about to cook some fanciful French wonder! Have a lovely weekend. X

I hear you about the cookie exchange!! I just love looking at your pictures, you are such a talented photographer, the angles are beautiful, making any simple object look so different in a new light. Love them!

that tray is awesome!
and you have sooo got to create something with that flour bag (when you are done with the braised goose, of course!)
Congrats to the winners! (insert envious humph) ;P

Hey, girlie. I've missed your posts... I mean, you've been making them, but I've been in the world of white boots WAY too much these past few days. I just have to say, I envy your cute little home. You know, we used to have a 100 yr old home, and I LOVED it. Now, I tried with this house... I swear, but after things getting habitually broken and colored on and covered in mysterious stickiness... and you factor in a business, and I guess I gave up. But it bothers me--EVERY DAY. Your home seems really clean for being full of kids. Share some tips, won't you?

Sweet post -- as always!! I write out my cards too, though print labels for my sis or she wouldn't send cards! Cool try -- wish I had an Ikea nearby!

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

Just sent our cards out this week, too...as usual, I procrastinated. I think you timed it well; just think of the "cookie breaks" you'll need to take when addressing all those envelopes:)
Oh, I can't believe it...I won a Lola B package?! Merry Christmas to me...thank you:) Have a happy weekend, Kasey!

love your cards - they turned out beautifully!

I simply adore the new TJ's sugar and flour bags. I think I just might carefully put the flour in a container and frame the bag. The colors are DIVINE!

SO excited for Lulu to get her loot!!

Still working on cards here too....

My husband would think I was totally mad if I bought some flour just because the packet looked pretty....he doesn't get that kind of kitchen stuff AT ALL.....thank goodness for you, who understands that these little things matter :) xo

Have a good weekend!! Think of me tomorrow...after all our stuff gets on the truck I will be stress free...yeah, right. Christmas, closing on the house, driving across the country, unpacking, getting the kids registered at a new school...stress free!! ;-)

So Kasey you know how you love the honest truth...well here it is...who the heck has time to do cards...not me...shouldn't even be commenting on here but needed just a "little" break :)
Hope I at least find time next week to bake something like broccoli bread but who knows??
HOPE your Christmas is Merry and Bright...we are expecting a bit of your white stuff this weekend...brr

The IKEA wheelie tray is AWESOME. I wish we had an IKEA here...but I am sure my budget is glad we don't. You are such a clever girlie...

Love that wheeled tray...what a great idea...if only the nearest Ikea wasn't 300 miles away...and don't get me started on Trader Joe's...that was my store...love that place...now that I've moved...the nearest one is over 300miles too.

The cards could turn into a real opportunity! Find a quiet spot, grab a cup of coffee and sit in peace while you address them. Sounds like some nice mom quiet time! Pretty flour bag indeed.

ps I did most of my cards today...I'm a bit of a luddite...I always hand address mine. I didn't even use sticky return address labels this year. : )

There is that french cookbook again! I can't wait to hear what you whip up with your pretty bag of flour~

Personally, I am going french this year and sending out new years cards - done in January when the rush is over and there is time for such things!

Have you booked anything lately? :)

Sweet post, like always. You know - I stopped sending cards years ago. I don't know that makes me Scrooge or what but it has lightened my load considerably.

I rely on my computer and the phone and I really do seem to be better about keeping in touch.

Take deep breaths and enjoy the rest of the holiday because your blog certainly spreads calm to all of us out here in blogland.

Warmest wishes of the season,

Jo

You know, several years ago my friends and I started doing ornament exchanges rather than cookie swaps. I like it soooo much more!

You get a calorie free gift to take home, and every year when I pull out those ornaments I can tell exactly who they came from.

Dennice {Fringe} said...

Well, I am disgracefully behind in my card sending and my holiday shopping. Business as usual for this girl. Somehow everything always gets done though...

I love the blue flour bag too. I saw it at TJ's and had to buy it. We do the ornament exchange instead of cookie exchange here. So much fun and sometimes cut-throat!

I lo-ove the galvanized tray...must get one...Wishing you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons! xo

Your cards are beautiful! Just addressed my last one... Looks like they'll go out on Monday. So late this year. Same greetings though!

Ahhhhh . . . the joys of hand addressed cards. With bills , announcements, advertising and more, all computer addressed, there is a small pleasure in getting something with a personal touch. I enjoy handwritten notes, and try to send them all year not only at the holiday time. Perhaps the results of your procrastination will bring a smile to someone.
Very nice blog.
