with the kids....
for dinner.
When i got a call...
the call....
one i had not been anticipating.

that's what husbands do when they travel...
at least i thought so...
but alas..
it was not him on the line...
it was the cleaners.
You heard me right....
the house cleaners.
They wanted to know if i might be interested

I truly believe that someone else took over my body at

sure.
what time can you be there.
It was also my kids first day back to school...

none of that.

of course!!! My cleaner came today too...she is still at my house, but god I love her...enjoy your clean house...xoxo
i don't care how much it cost- that sounds COMPLETELY worth it! as i spent my children's naptime vacuuming & mopping, i'm super jealous. and as they are now sprinkling cracker crumbs all over the floor, i'm sinking into a pool of depression. why don't houses stay clean? ever?
but i digress- good job allowing the cleaners to come. you can save pennies tomorrow! : )
happy monday!
rachel
I'm SOOOOOO very jealous! I came home from a weekend away with my sweet husband in Nashville, only to vacuum the entire house, do four loads of laundry. And low and behold - my 2 year old son threw pizza on the floor at supper - the cleaning cycle never ends!
Oh what a wonderful feeling it is to have a really sparkly clean house. I do love that, and you so deserve it. Save somewhere else. Hugs, Marty
YAY for you having a clean house!!!!!!!
love that book....just read it not long ago.....my cleaner comes twice a month and I adore her! Relax away you deserve it! :)
Oh man! I have total cleaner envy!!! I haven't had a cleaner since we moved back to the UK and I REALLY, REALLY need one! You lucky girl; sit back and enjoy :O)
xxx
Do you think they would be willing to travel 5 hours to do mine?...
just a thought:)
Because then I could use the excuse that I have "friends" coming over {traveling to see me} that are "helping me"...I mentioned cleaning help maybe 6 months ago...lets just say it was a quiet night that night ;) {wink, laugh}
jealous....but still friends;-) And love, love, love your chair!
Blessings,
Shawn
Perhaps i should call the cleaners and stop fussing over laundry :)-
...so fresh and so clean...
HAPPY NEW YEARS hun to you and yours.
Ugh. Check out my posting today.
Imagine all I have to do before my cleaners come on Wednesday.....
YIKES.
xoxo
ahhhhhhh! sounds wonderful.....esp. if you had the cup of latte from your previous post in your hand as you are reading! Enjoy!
aahhh...the joy of a clean house! I swear it's something only a woman can truly appreciate. I have five sons and my husband and I swear I am the only one that truly enjoys the beauty and smell of clean as the men in my life have a need to undo it right away!
I gave up the cleaner too and you know what? I plan on giving myself a raise at the shop this spring to fund the housecleaner. Yes, I could use the money to purchase something but is it worth my sanity I am starting to realize not. My compromise is going to be twice a month on Mondays and I am going to make Sunday a 2 hour family marathon of straightening up everything so they can get lots of cleaning done. I made the declaration at dinner the other night and no one batted an eye as they knew I was at the end of my rope.
Lucky you! I say, "hold on to the cleaners and skimp somewhere else"! Worth every penny for a little sanity! lol
Hugs,
~Victoria~
Good for you!! Sounds like a wonderful day!!
Oh yes we are still friends girl!! I love it. My kids are watching Tom and Jerry as I TYPE! LOL
You do what you've got to do...
When you get the house cleaned it feel so great! Usually, if the cleaners come, it just gives me the energy to do other things. Then I feel even more productive. It's exhausting to clean your own house all the time. Good for you! Cheers to a clean New Year! lulu
Heck YES we're still friends! I just put Gracie back in school and I feel so guilty and so liberated at the same time.
I have that book on my wish list... you've inspired me to take a trip to Barnes n' Noble soon with all my extra time. :)
do i spy a new wall color and a new comforter/duvet? just checkin.... if so you gotta post more pics. oh and how's lola's room coming? dying to see that too.
xo
Kari
I would have done the same thing, I only hope you had a nice (large) glass of wine while you read :)
Love you always!
Oh, Kasey...how I have missed you. I took a blog writing and reading break for a couple weeks over the holidays and am so happy to "talk" to you again.
And I sure wish someone could come clean my house. Sounds like a dream...
I gotta get a cleaning lady and that book.
I love you just the same and appreciate you all the more for being YOU.
Happy Monday! :-)
Boy, I feel like I'm from another planet! I have never had a cleaner in my life...one to do my windows now and then might be nice though! I have been "the cleaner" all my life and I can truly say, it's not a bad job, I love it! I love the feeling of getting my house all cleaned, then sitting back to enjoy what I have done! Now, when I was raising my 8 kids, it might have been great, but then they had to learn to help and pulling together as a family was a good thing. And yes, we are friends...we are all different but all wonderful! Love ya..come say hi :D
I think maybe I'll break my "no resolutions" rule and resolve to hire cleaners for my house...sounds heavenly:)
Sent sweet boy back to school this am after 2 1/2 weeks home and Mr. Decor went back to work after a 12 day vacation.
My vacation starts today. :)
If I could get away with a housecleaner I SO would.
You go girl.
too funny! Wish the cleaners would call me! Last time she was here I heard she doubled her price!! (very dusty!)
Get all you can! Go to France and have a clean house... what good is cake if you can't eat it?
Smiles!
Michelle
Hmmmm...let's see, did you skip the Starbucks today? The way I see it, a woman can only be asked to give up so much. Skip the latte for a day and I'd call it even!
~Michelle
reading this made ME want to call the cleaners!!! :)
xoxo
-b
Sounds completely worth it!!!
personally I think everyone is letting you off the hook a little too easy...
no...not really...I'm just sad that I have no cleaning lady and my Christmas tree wont take itself down, stupid tree!
isn't that the best feeling when the whole house is clean at the same time? good for you!
Since we're confessing here -- my cleaning person is coming tomorrow!! Can't wait -- just wish the snow and sludge would disappear! Enjoy your book!
Janet
You ARE a little bugger ~ but good for you starting the year off right. Now ~ next time you can do it yourself....maybe! Enjoy your book Kasey.
You are so funny Kasey! You had me laughing on this one! I soooooo wish I had a house cleaner, but the truth is, that would be me.:(
Thanks for the advice on my resolutions. I think that is a great idea, and may implement that as well!
silly girl. of course we're still friends.
i'll never forget when my friend's mom gave me her advice about housecleaning. she advised saving pennies elsewhere and investing in a housecleaning service. her thoughts; life's too short. your time is too precious. you should be spending your time with your children, your husband and yourself. the time you save can be used to enrich your life and make wonderful memories.
great advice. unless you truly enjoy cleaning your home...
happy happy 2010!
xo
Yes, of course we're still friends...You have made me a very jealous friend but yes, still friends!! Luke brought home his computer so I could finally check in. It was good talking with you today. I wish you lived next door. Maybe the cleaning ladies would have cleaned my house too!!
Oh crikey,
I'd rather read a book and have a cleaner than do the cleaning myself although I do have a bit of a problem with cleaners. I've never had one 'cos I know that I would have to clean up before they came, as I would be so embarrassed about the state of the place, which would rather defeat the object. I know it's silly but that's me !!!!
Life is for living ...not for cleaning. Enjoy having your cleaner, Kasey and sit in your beautiful chair and dream of April and your trip to France. XXXX
girl, we are sooo still friends! actually, I am the exact opposite of you. I have never had my house cleaned and I am thinking that ANY amount of money will be worth having someone clean my house...even just once a month!
I am still thinking about it. lol
B
Are you kidding me good friends encourage this way of living!!! hee hee so I can at least dream what that must feel like through you! Ahhhh i can smell your clean house through the computer! thanks for the nice smell :)
xo,
LuLu
P.S. I'll clean my house for my package... can't open a package from you in a messy house!!
We can still be friends if you promise to send them my way ;)
Of course you're forgiven. Reminds me of myself...this Christmas I swore I was going to make all these creative gifts for my family...and although I had all the materials, I waited and waited to do the actual work. I was up all night the night before Christmas Eve trying to figure out when I was going to get it all done. Then at about 3 am I decided, "what the heck, I'm going to BUY myself a peace of mind"...and that's what I did. $75 later I had a very quiet peace of mind. :)
Sometimes you just gotta buy happiness!*
-Gail
I love this post honey! Hope you had a great day. Kori xoxo
Lucky girl! Enjoy your sparkling house.
Girl I don't blame you why not. By all means if this is something that you want to do then just do it. I wish I had a cleaner. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Awwww..nothing better than a clean house...however you get it..right?
Haven't you heard? It's a womans perogotive to change her mind. I don't have kids at home anymore and I wish someone was coming to clean my house! Happy New Year.
Oh, you make me laugh.
Out loud...even my kids upstairs trying to sleep told me to quiet down.
Amen, to enjoying the moment...that looks like a very inspiring read. I'm thinking most French Girls would have said "Oui" to the cleaners.
Absolutment!
Happy New beginning in 2010...
Lara
Love your music . . . enjoy your clean house!
You're good. Now, would you please hire Candice Olson to come finish my houses and Martha Stewart's people to come and organize everything. That would be fine. Thanks. Then I could go to France too.
: )
Julie M.
Oh, I've been there. Except right before Christmas it was ME calling THEM, upping the dollar amount by $20 intervals until they said yes.
Enjoy it. Alas, it never lasts very long... at least, not at my house.
Oh, and I want to be a sponsor. Can I sign up now, but start it once my website goes live?
Uh, all I have to say is
YOU GO GIRL!
There is nothing like walking into your freshly clean home. I'm thinking of going back to work FT so I can justify bringing my cleanning gal back! We all need a little pick me up now and then. Enjoy!! xo
Ahhhh.... a clean home. There is nothing like it!
Also, I have read that book... it's pretty cute! Enjoy!
Oh how I would love a cleaner every once in awhile or maybe someone to just do my laundry, sigh*. Sometimes spending the extra money for your sanity is just okay.
aaaaah - it sounds like heaven! I have come to despise cleaning the house. I use to like it, not so much anymore.
Still friends??? I would have truly wondered about our friendship had you turned them away:) Cleaning ladies are FABULOUS!! And absolutely necessary with 3 kids on xmas break.
Oh and thanks to you I have to go to IKEA. It's only about 30 miles away but I have to take the 10 freeway!! So it may take me 2 hours to get there:) I haven't been in years but you make it look sound sooo wonderful that my friend and I are going to take a field trip:)
i'm drooling over that beautiful chair!!! LOVE IT!
kathi
Sister, I could have never done it, so I hold no ill will towards you and your claims that you could. Some things are just higher priorities, and a clean house is one of them!
xx
Good for you for doing your part in keeping everyone employed!
I loved that book- and Why French Women don't get Fat- which is not your problem so don't buy it. But it did remind me of why I was thin thin thin when I lived n France and am so NOT now that I am back in the breadbasket of America. (Not to sdound ungrateful for always being full).
If you decide to break any other resolutions and do something crazy like give away all your boots, call me.
I'd leave a longer comment, but I have to go and clean my house...ALL BY MYSELF.
You are so funny! Of course you are forgiven. If it makes you feel better I am supposed to be losing weight right now and swore off junk food but I am pretty sure that I am going to be eating one of those delicious chocolate croissants that are sitting in my freezer pretty soon;)
I NEED that book!
oh i'm certain i heard your chorus of heavenly angels when those ladies brought the glory of god back to the buick house!!
soooooooooooooo
glad to catch up with you today dear friend
YOU are precious to me
xo
Back on line at last! You don't know how much better your blog looks on a real computer screen than on a blackberry...and I can actually comment!!
Hope you had a lovely New Year celebration! Thanks again for the pizza.
Hope you do make it out this way in the spring. We'd love to have you and Lola stay over!!
Kasey...I hope you plan to mail me one of those slipcovers you stocked up on. You couldn't deny me that right? I mean seriously. please. You can sit on it when you come visit. :-)
Oh, how I wish I could afford cleaners...but, that's not in the "priorities" budget list...so the hubs says. Maybe some day. ;) So, more power to you I say! Enjoy your freshly cleaned home...AND you fab trip! ;)
Smiles,
rachel
Awwww...to have a house cleaner...oh yeah...I already do...me.

I'm living vicariously through you my dear...c'est bon...everything!
I totally did this when the DirectTV folks called to ask if I wanted to end our hiatus while the hubby was out of town. Heck yeah! I sat on the sofa and watched a Project Runway marathon until 3:30am. It was awesome. Enjoy your clean house! That's one of my fave smells!
