Entre Nous....

Don't hate me.
I lied.
Please hear me out first before you cross me off of your list.

pretty please.
So.....
i was at a friends home last night....
with the kids....
for dinner.
When i got a call...
the call....
one i had not been anticipating.
You see.....at this point i had been silently hoping
that maybe...just maybe ...
my hubby would be calling to check in...

i mean....

that's what husbands do when they travel...

at least i thought so...
but alas..
it was not him on the line...
it was the cleaners.
You heard me right....
the house cleaners.
They wanted to know if i might be interested
in having them clean tomorrow.
At this point the birds started singing in my ears...

and i took a big swallow..
because you have no idea what my poor house
looks like.....

oh..

actually you do know...

but it is a whole lot worse in person...

trust me.
i realize that i totally swore off my cleaners..
saying i would do the cleaning myself in order
to save some pennies for France.
Ahem.
I truly believe that someone else took over my body at

that point and in a clear authoritative voice...

said to the cleaners...

sure.

what time can you be there.

It was also my kids first day back to school...

after a very long 2 weeks off.

I picked fin up from preschool...

then plopped him in front of the tele...

yes....

i did..

you heard me..

i plopped him in front of the tele.

Then i came upstairs to my bedroom.....

and relaxed on my chair.

It was very quiet..

and it smelled so clean...

not like dirty socks..

and there were no clothes ..

in piles on the floor.

nope.

none of that.

I almost thought of climbing into by bed..

but the cleaners made it...

and i hated to disturb such a masterpiece..

because it's been

a very..

very..

long time since the bed has been made.

i grabbed my newest read....

knowing that all was well in my home..

yes...

all was well.

xo

Are we still friends?
*Entre Nous = between us*

i don't care how much it cost- that sounds COMPLETELY worth it! as i spent my children's naptime vacuuming & mopping, i'm super jealous. and as they are now sprinkling cracker crumbs all over the floor, i'm sinking into a pool of depression. why don't houses stay clean? ever?
but i digress- good job allowing the cleaners to come. you can save pennies tomorrow! : )
happy monday!

I'm SOOOOOO very jealous! I came home from a weekend away with my sweet husband in Nashville, only to vacuum the entire house, do four loads of laundry. And low and behold - my 2 year old son threw pizza on the floor at supper - the cleaning cycle never ends!

Oh what a wonderful feeling it is to have a really sparkly clean house. I do love that, and you so deserve it. Save somewhere else. Hugs, Marty

Oh man! I have total cleaner envy!!! I haven't had a cleaner since we moved back to the UK and I REALLY, REALLY need one! You lucky girl; sit back and enjoy :O)

Do you think they would be willing to travel 5 hours to do mine?...

just a thought:)

Because then I could use the excuse that I have "friends" coming over {traveling to see me} that are "helping me"...I mentioned cleaning help maybe 6 months ago...lets just say it was a quiet night that night ;) {wink, laugh}

aahhh...the joy of a clean house! I swear it's something only a woman can truly appreciate. I have five sons and my husband and I swear I am the only one that truly enjoys the beauty and smell of clean as the men in my life have a need to undo it right away!

I gave up the cleaner too and you know what? I plan on giving myself a raise at the shop this spring to fund the housecleaner. Yes, I could use the money to purchase something but is it worth my sanity I am starting to realize not. My compromise is going to be twice a month on Mondays and I am going to make Sunday a 2 hour family marathon of straightening up everything so they can get lots of cleaning done. I made the declaration at dinner the other night and no one batted an eye as they knew I was at the end of my rope.

Victoria Hayden said...

Lucky you! I say, "hold on to the cleaners and skimp somewhere else"! Worth every penny for a little sanity! lol

When you get the house cleaned it feel so great! Usually, if the cleaners come, it just gives me the energy to do other things. Then I feel even more productive. It's exhausting to clean your own house all the time. Good for you! Cheers to a clean New Year! lulu

Heck YES we're still friends! I just put Gracie back in school and I feel so guilty and so liberated at the same time.

Oh, Kasey...how I have missed you. I took a blog writing and reading break for a couple weeks over the holidays and am so happy to "talk" to you again.

And I sure wish someone could come clean my house. Sounds like a dream...

Boy, I feel like I'm from another planet! I have never had a cleaner in my life...one to do my windows now and then might be nice though! I have been "the cleaner" all my life and I can truly say, it's not a bad job, I love it! I love the feeling of getting my house all cleaned, then sitting back to enjoy what I have done! Now, when I was raising my 8 kids, it might have been great, but then they had to learn to help and pulling together as a family was a good thing. And yes, we are friends...we are all different but all wonderful! Love ya..come say hi :D

I think maybe I'll break my "no resolutions" rule and resolve to hire cleaners for my house...sounds heavenly:)

You are so funny Kasey! You had me laughing on this one! I soooooo wish I had a house cleaner, but the truth is, that would be me.:(
Thanks for the advice on my resolutions. I think that is a great idea, and may implement that as well!

Dennice {Fringe} said...

silly girl. of course we're still friends.

i'll never forget when my friend's mom gave me her advice about housecleaning. she advised saving pennies elsewhere and investing in a housecleaning service. her thoughts; life's too short. your time is too precious. you should be spending your time with your children, your husband and yourself. the time you save can be used to enrich your life and make wonderful memories.

great advice. unless you truly enjoy cleaning your home...

happy happy 2010!

Yes, of course we're still friends...You have made me a very jealous friend but yes, still friends!! Luke brought home his computer so I could finally check in. It was good talking with you today. I wish you lived next door. Maybe the cleaning ladies would have cleaned my house too!!

Jacqueline @ HOME said...

Oh crikey,
I'd rather read a book and have a cleaner than do the cleaning myself although I do have a bit of a problem with cleaners. I've never had one 'cos I know that I would have to clean up before they came, as I would be so embarrassed about the state of the place, which would rather defeat the object. I know it's silly but that's me !!!!
Life is for living ...not for cleaning. Enjoy having your cleaner, Kasey and sit in your beautiful chair and dream of April and your trip to France. XXXX

bethchien said...

girl, we are sooo still friends! actually, I am the exact opposite of you. I have never had my house cleaned and I am thinking that ANY amount of money will be worth having someone clean my house...even just once a month!
I am still thinking about it. lol

Of course you're forgiven. Reminds me of myself...this Christmas I swore I was going to make all these creative gifts for my family...and although I had all the materials, I waited and waited to do the actual work. I was up all night the night before Christmas Eve trying to figure out when I was going to get it all done. Then at about 3 am I decided, "what the heck, I'm going to BUY myself a peace of mind"...and that's what I did. $75 later I had a very quiet peace of mind. :)

Sometimes you just gotta buy happiness!*

Still friends??? I would have truly wondered about our friendship had you turned them away:) Cleaning ladies are FABULOUS!! And absolutely necessary with 3 kids on xmas break.
Oh and thanks to you I have to go to IKEA. It's only about 30 miles away but I have to take the 10 freeway!! So it may take me 2 hours to get there:) I haven't been in years but you make it look sound sooo wonderful that my friend and I are going to take a field trip:)

Good for you for doing your part in keeping everyone employed!

I loved that book- and Why French Women don't get Fat- which is not your problem so don't buy it. But it did remind me of why I was thin thin thin when I lived n France and am so NOT now that I am back in the breadbasket of America. (Not to sdound ungrateful for always being full).

If you decide to break any other resolutions and do something crazy like give away all your boots, call me.
