Meet the boys.....

I realized, after a reader emailed me a bit ago about her love of my kiddo's names, that i have yet to show you the boys room. I was at a complete loss when it came down to decorating a boys room, understandably, because I am a girly girl {and it took alot out of me to not just hang a chandelier in here}. I also love, let me say it again.....love........Ikea. The bunkbeds are from there, as are the book racks above their beds, and some of the furniture. We had a limit on what we could spend on the boys room, and nothing sounded better than a $300 set of darling bunkbeds. The walls were painted, and then I went to town, better known as Ikea...

I found this old Stop sign at a yard sale a few years ago and along with the clocks {Ikea}, we now have the

"stop time" wall.

I found these letters at Hobby Lobby, and spray painted them a dark blue. "Strong", that is what I strive for my boys to be, not only in character, but in faith and just being who they are. I got the letter idea from my friend Meg over at "Whatever", she has a playroom that is magazine worthy!

My boys. Mason and Fin. Almost 8, and almost 4. I even negotiated the other day with Fin, asking him if he could be 3 forever, just for me. Please, i begged.

Nope, he said, I'm going to be 4, then I'm going to be 5, and when i turn 5 mommy, I'm getting a dog.

.....love this HERE over at Shabby Nest.

AWESOME! I am getting all kinds of ideas from you;)

I am prob going to have to name baby Fin if it is a boy so get used to it. We are Finnish after all. Acutally more Swedish, perhaps I will name him Swede. Actually now that I think of it, if I am using that whole concept, it would probably be more appropriate to name him Mutt. Hmmm..

Kasey...you know I feel 'bout the name Fin! :) i also NEED that stop sign, so every 10 seconds when I am at home telling my punk to STOP climbing on the furniture, or spitting on the floor and scratching the wood floor with his tools... I can just point at that sign, and save my voice! it has to be irritating..! Lovely room...I am sure those boys are as sweet as pie like you! Would you get that dog already...taht has to be torture for everyone!

I love the IKEA book baskets! Those are too cool!!! (You should link to my Taming Kid Clutter Linky Party tomorrow - shameless plug) But honestly, that is such a cute idea...I'm going to have to steal, er, uh, borrow it. :-)

As i've mentioned to you before my little man is now asking for bunk beds....thanks to a lovely afternoon at your home.
I have an odd feeling we could be off to Ikea to get bunk beds. I will have to let you know how it turns out.
Once again...thanks for sharing you life with us. Especially my new boyfriend, Finn :)

I LOVE it! There are some good ideas for me to use (steal) for Oliver's room. He loves clocks and he loves signs. I love bunk beds. My sister and I had them and I thought it was the best thing ever!
When is Fins birthday? I didn't realize Oliver and he were so close in age. Oliver is 4 in July.

Love their room, Kasey! If i told you I have repainted and redecorated Nikolas' room about 4 times, would you believe me? He will be 4 in May. They are close in age...wow i had no idea. How does a playdate sound?:)

What an awesome room for your adorable boys! Just love that "stop time" concept:) Love their names, too...a bit partial to the name Fin; I think I've almost persuaded my daughter to name my future grandbaby Fin(n)!

Love it. I, too, would be lost trying to decorate a boy's room. (But secretly, if I could have a baby boy...right now even at my age, I WOULD!), but you did great!
As usual, I'm struck by more in the blog post than the "top notes" of the decor talk and I'm touched by Fin's straightforward reply to your plea to stay three (mine is 18 and I ask her if we can just go back to 8 years old...). "Nope. I'm gonna be 5 then I'm getting a dog." Wow. The little dude already has the next couple of years of his life planned. Can he counsel me? ;) Just kidding! :)
Thanks so much, Kasey!

Great room! I'm just starting my son's room and it's been hard getting inspiration. Love the book racks on the wall near the bunk beds. Perfect for what we need. Thanks for sharing

I'm not especially girly-girly. I think God is either going to give me all boys or all girls. And I know there will be some some sort of life lesson in the decision! I'm a nanny to a brother and sister pair. They sure are cute but soooo different. Ha!

I am also a fan of Ikea... but who isn't I ask?!?!! You did a GREAT job with the boys' room. :)

I booked a post from Apartment Therapy about this bed from Ikea. She painted this metal bed frame in a lovely shade of yellow.

What a perfect room for your perfect boys! I love the clocks on the wall---and those book racks are inspired. After all, the worst thing about being on the top bunk is having to get down to grab stuff. So smart!

With three sets of bunk beds in my boys room I NEED those wall baskets. I am 5 hours from an IKEA, but the way I figure it, if I leave now I could be there before they open tomorrow.

(IKEA is addictive!)

And STRONG - that's what I want my boys to be. All 7 of them :)

I love this boys' room. I have 3 boys and they share a room. I showed my 8 year old these pics and he like the letters spelling out "STRONG." He wants me to spell out "ROCK ON." Whatever....
