dearest friday....

I have a small warning for you.

what you are about to view....are not pretty pictures........at least the first few are not.

I dare you to enter......... something happens in this room on a weekly basis. no lie.

i finally opened the closet and low and behold......everything that i had ever imagined not possible...was possible.

Every time i sent lola up to clean her room...i used to applaud her for being like her mother....so organized and thoughtful when it came to her room.

NOT SO.

Everything you see on the floor was stuffed in her closet.

I found things i thought were lost and gone forever....

all hiding in this closet.....

oh.....let me tell you.....Fin had a ball in there....why is it that little boys love this sort of stuff? I swear he ate

a half eaten candy bar from 2 years ago.

I also swear that if he gets an upset stomach tonight....that he will NOT be staying home tomorrow.

because it's his last full day of all day school and i have plans....

big plans....

it's his last day of daycare before he starts pre-k.

why is pre-k only 2.5 hours?

now i'm re-thinking taking him out of daycare to save a few bucks....

so...he better not vomit tonight.

This is what i spent the day doing on Thursday.......cleaning a room that should be done by it's own occupant.

I also found out that lola is a hoarder. {why does it sound like the word 'order'...because it's the furthest thing from that}

she hoards.

now...me...myself.....i collect.........

lola hoards.

i ended up with a few large bags that are headed to goodwill and a large bag that is just headed to the garbage.

enter clean closet....

her room was such that you couldn't even see her new duvet cover......

sweet posie love.

This duvet cover is not from Anthro.....nope.....

it's from Homegoods of all places.

and it was NOT expensive.

under $60.

I'm all over the board today.....

have you seen this ladder in the new Country Living mag {sept issue}???

What a wonderfully fabulous idea......

...and here is my version.......it's a good thing it's not bigger...because then i would feel the need to fill it full.

What do you have lined up for the three day weekend girls? I'm heading to the flea market again on Saturday with a friend.....then a party with some neighbors in the eve...and hopefully....just hopefully....the weather is warm enough that we can enjoy the last weekend that our pool is open.

oh....don't forget to comment for a starbucks gift card here.....

and my dear friend is having an uber cool giveaway here....[make sure you tell her lola b's sent ya..}

xo

LOVE the ladder. Don't have cute enough shoes for it. I want to be you. Even if you DO have to clean up another occupant's room :)

Wow - what an amazing mess. My daughter is almost the same way. If I didn't have to look at her room to get to my room, or if I'm in the hallway - I think I'd let you live in a messy room. Ok, i wouldn't - but seriously - how hard is it to take off shoes, put on shoe rack? (especially if they're as easy, but not as cute as your shoe rack!?)

Send your fab weather my way, will ya? I'm MELTING in this heat. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Love the ladder and the duvet! So sweet! We're driving to Arizona tomorrow morning bright and early!

Yes, I did see the ladder idea. Yours is very cute, too! I, however, will not be trying that idea because I am such a klutz that I would either end up pulling the heals off of my shoes whilst trying to remove them...or would miscalculate and...not lift a shoe high enough and pull the entire ladder full of shoes...into my face..and bonk myself on the head. It is true.

I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

ps Many years ago, my young charge, the son of a family friend, told me that he was not feeling well on a morning that I was to take him to daycare. I didn't believe him. I signed him in and was about to leave...when he literally tossed his Fruit Loops on the shiny ecru linoleum floor. Good times... I hope that Fin's tummy and the candy bar do not disagree with each other.

I love this post...so random...so lovely...so cool. Love the ladder thing and thought about trying it but then thought I couldn't pull it off until I saw your version...I love it! Anyhow, thanks for the post...crossing my fingers with you for the pool! Have an awesome weekend!

Hoarding....collecting....hmmmm?! Your post made me smile as always :)

The white duvet cover is gorgeous as is the ladder idea....although I know my husband would HATE it....he doesn't understand why things have to be out on display -that's what cupboards are for??!! Beautiful things need to be seen, I say!

I thought of you yesterday....was out searching for black winter boots with a wedge heel.....nothing doing but I did find some gorgeous knee high plum boots....thought of you immediately....not that it's any help I know!!

Happy Friday!

At least she contained her clutter in the closet;) My oldest daughter is exactly the same way when it comes to cleaning her room...so I really feel your "pain"! Love the duvet & the ladder:)

The duvet photographs beautifully. Hate to tell ya though, it's unlikely that closet will stay so clean. Just being honest. But, it does look so lovely in that sweet room of Lola's!!! Thanks for the mention :)

Hey Lola, Love that duvet. I am in the market for a new master bed covering and can't find what I am looking for but I'll know it when I see it. Happy Labor Day weekend. Like you one of the days will be spent exploring a new to me town for old goodies. We are having a gourmet pizza party with the neighbors and working on the new Romantic Roost. xo

I live with a hoarder named Abigail - she and Lola would get along famously! I have plans to do the same sort of room clean out next week my hoarder heads to second grade.

Have a great weekend Kasey! Any luck finding THE boots??

Love the ladder, I might have to give that a shot, if I could keep the aforementioned 2 year old from trying to climb it.

A funny post. Will it help to say there is still hope for your daughter? My room growing up was reallllly bad. My family tease me all the time because today I'm the opposite and start cleaning even while they are still here!!

I stopped off at an garage sale after a walk around the forest preserves and picked up some old books a couple of kid's books too, so that was my great find this weekend.

Have a golden one! xoxo

You will feel soooo much better about your little hoarder when I share the current destruction that is my daughter's room with you. I decided to rearrange and tidy up her room while she was off at the grandparents. You would not believe what I found under her bed! Apparently that's where she stashes everything when I ask her to clean her room. It's turned into a 3 day project and I'm not even close to being done. :)

P.S. LOVE the new duvet!

krys kirkpatrick said...

It never end, I hate to lay that on you. My kids are grown and gone and I find I am just as messy! It is creative chaos...but chaos it is, can't deny it. It is a blast, making your own messes and cleaning up when you want!

I think Lola and Madison are soul sista's....love her spread!

Yes, it would be such a shame to hide such a beautiful duvet!

Also, your ladder and shoes are way cooler than the ones pictured in the magazine. Love it! Looks great! I really want your closet! : )

Yes messy girls do just materialize one day & leave you in awe. My Hailey became a slob overnight & through editing & threats of giving her precious stuff to poor children we managed to get a tad better.
Got to love Finn...he's the cutest quirky pre K little guy in the blogosphere. The candy bar made me giggle...its chocolate mom mentality really never leaves guys does it???
