Dinner at seven...

Dear mom and dad.....

I now completely understand why you sent me away to live with auntie linda when i was younger.....i realize it really wasn't because you thought it was in MY best interest....but the truth is...

it was in YOUR best interest.

I get it.

It occurred to me last night that it's going to be a tough road ahead....and here i was.... worried about lola...

but it's coming out that i have someone else i need to REALLY worry about.

His name is fin and he's 4.

Last night the kids were sitting around the dinner table eating of all things.....

no.....

not mac n cheese....

but a lovely lean cuisine.....and it had LOTS and LOTS of veggies.....

because i was thinking the other night that they don't get enough veggies...

so when i was perusing thru the frozen foods isle at the market.....i saw some

lovely frozen meals with LOTS of veggies.

anyhooooo.......

as soon as i nuked up some FABULOUS dinner......

with lots and lots of edamame and carrots...

i just knew that it was going to be a long night.....because normally it doesn't take

a full freakin hour to eat.......

then i noticed sweet boobs...

yes...i call my little fin....BOOBs sometimes...

there

i said it

little boobs...big boobs...whatever....

i suppose he might have a complex one day....

but...anyways....

fin had made a note and was handing it around the table...

and on the note....it said....

i pass.

Apparently......the children thought it would be fun to take turns eating

the veggies......

but whoever got the "i pass" card....

didn't have to eat theirs......

so....round and round went the card...

and no veggies were being eaten....

I then had to call Santa.....

because you realize that all good mothers have his number programed on their phone...

on my phone he is maked as a "favorite"....

but Santa was in the hot tub.....

apparently....

with one of the elves....

at least that is what mrs clause told me....

so then i had to explain the situation with her...

and she then in turn had to talk to fin and lola...

because at this point Mason is rolling his eyes....

which he got a time-out for......

duh......

of course Santa's real.....

i told him....if he doesn't want to believe....

then let's just see what he gets for christmas....

so then he was the first to eat his veggies....

but not lola and fin.....

they started wondering how the heck mrs clause knew

that they were eating nuked veggies....

and that lola just had her hair cut....

duh....

she knows as much as santa......

probably more than santa....

mrs. clause is the BOMB.

...then bryan came home.....

and when bryan comes home.....for some reason...

the kids....

they.eat.their.food.

I sat there for an hour and a half with cold...nuked....vegies...

and hottie husband walks in.....

and they gobble down their food......

saying...

hey dad...gosh...you look nice..

did you have a good day today....

blah....blah.....blah....

so...mom and dad...i completely understand now....

that if in fact the time arrives that i

can send fin to live with you.....

right???

by the way....is there a reason you have not been answering the phone when i call??

xo

{all photo's were taken on Fin's first date with his girlfriend.....

and yes....times have changed......they start dating at 4...}

This is totally adorable! I love that they weren't just refusing to eat their veggies, but they actually had this "logical" scheme concocted to excuse them from eating the veggies!!

Clever little plan to not eat those veggies!

You are the funniest girl I have ever met. Officially.

So cute! If your parents don't take Fin....we will! Mrs. Clause must be a very SMART woman to know what Lola's hair looks like and what they were eating for dinner. Don't ya think??

I'm still cracking up about the "I pass" card. I wonder why I didn't think of something like that when I was a kid. It sure makes sense.

That was amazing. Every mom should have Santa on speed dial. I'm pretty sure Fin has surpassed me in the dating world...

My mom just told me yesterday, that on a recent trip to the grocery store...she met a very dignified looking couple...with and entire cart full of Lean Cuisine.

ps I would have tucked some of my veggies into that note...before passing it along to my brothers. I would have used any method...to get them off of my plate.

Great to read this just now... My kids were animals this morning. I emailed my hubby and said that I might be drinking by noon today. They got better (one is down for a nap and the other is on the computer). I haven't popped the cork... yet.

Well I've been threatening Miss Teen Mouth herself for the last few years that she is off to live with my sister the "task master!" It used to scare her, now she just looks at me an laughs. When the Boys come to the door, I invite them in, that seems to do the trick with her. You wait until your 3 are a few years older, the doorbell won't stop ringing nor the phone. If they have 1/3 of the personality of their mom, You and your Hot Hubby better get a shot gun to keep at the front door. That little Fin is a cute as his sister. So glad Im not the only mom making nuked veggies.Whewwww.. jamie

Darling story! I like that the kids are eating fast food when you speak of the veggies, awesome times!!
We're having some frozen Digorno pizzas for dinner tonight.....just keeping it real her at the baker household. I just don't have the energy to have a real throwdown of a meal, I did that last night...so, it's breaktime for this little chef.
Well, off to clean more closets out..........my tile guy is coming tomorrow, I'm so happy that I might knock him down as he enters the door.

Me calling Mrs. Clause stopped working a long time ago...how are kids so smart these days??? We even tried calling Mr. Green Bean and that only worked the first couple of times....until my boys heard Mr. Green Bean on his cell phone in the other room. We even tried making them at least put the veggies up to their lips...I got tired of cleaning the voimit.

I love reading your posts...they always put a smile on my face. I don't have kids yet but might try the santa thing when I do. Do you think it would work on my husband? :)

Hysterical Casey and thanks for the OK to pull the Santa card now. I guess if the stores can start putting out Christmas before Halloween then we can start calling Santa now too! I'm so glad that I'm not the only wine drinking frozen dinner serving mom in the world, thank you for that. :-)

Your kids are precious by the way.

That Fin is just too darn cute, even if he is ornery...you can send him here to to Ash, she said she wanted him. :)
Oh and when she was little, after I had taken care of her all day, her "daddy" would come in and she would get all googley eyed and nothing or noone else even mattered!

I thought Fin was waiting for me... :( I guess I should proceed with wedding plans.

I have the opposite problem. My little one eats all the fruits and vegis you put in front of him, but if meat shows up on his plate forget it! My oldest who is 10 now eats just about anything after many years of refusing. There is hope!

Hysterical! I love how a leads to b and b leads to c and somehow we almost get to z in every post! You are so funny. I love that you fed your kids lean cuisine. that is perfect. hey, was I right about the wine? i am so curious...

Have you ever tried steaming veggies for them to dip in ranch dressing?? Even a bit of melted fake butter...Worked for me.

Completely relate to kids eating and such when Daddy arrives home...my thoughts exactly it shouldn't take an hour you know...now my first thought after that was...their clever "pass" card...I wonder where that "cleverness" comes from...don't you wonder??...I was thinking "call your house kind of thing and act like you are really home just answering late calls from friends"...:) HA! What a clever bunch...and the pictures of Fin...and his date...so stinkin' cute...your pictures are always wonderful!
