10.11.2009

Hello monday.....

Good morning {or evening....} and happy day to you. I'm going on my 4th day home with the children...yes...they had a 4 day weekend....lucky kids.

Part of living in the midwest...means that when there is a festival in town....the kids get an extra day off.....so that maybe we might attend the so-called festival......needless to say.......

it was a rocking 40 degrees here this weekend........

which means.....i had to dig into the closets looking for jackets and hats.....

which then got me into the .......

throw everything that has to do with summer into a large bin.....

clothes strewn everywhere......

goodwill bags accumulating....

then... my horns started popping out.....

my eyes started turning a shade of red....

and.it's.not.even.halloween.

I admit...i get a little crazy when it comes to organizing.

I actually tackled 3 closets....and a pantry this weekend.....

which means a lot of downtime for the kids....or in better words
translates to....

fighting.

But...the good news is....

i snuck away....because i needed some more.....

knee high socks!

oh...

yes.....

i know they look like the $18 dollar knee highs from ANTHRO....

but alas...

they ARE NOT.

I wear my boots from the beginning of October all the way.......

till April.........

and i wear.....

KNEE HIGH SOCKS.......

because i love how they PEEK out from the top.

Silly...maybe....

but....when you can get them at good ole target for around $6 a pair...then...

i can buy 3 pairs for the price i would have bought them at Anthro for....

ya know.....

just trying to save a buck.......or two......

{are you a knee high type of girl ??}

Okay.

on to other exciting news.....

i'm in the middle of planning something.

SOMETHING EXCITING.

Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night with a revelation....a dream....

well....

i did.....

i dreamed of having an evening

with you girls....

full of inspiration.....

talking about ...

anything....

or everything.....

about life....about dreams....

about wants....and if's.....

I promise to share more details soon.......

really.....

but i will be opening up my home on December 5th...

for an evening of good food....maybe..just maybe....

some great wine......

time to mingle...time to create....

time to talk....time to feel inspired....

a special guest to help us make some beautiful jewelry....

oh...and some fabulous gifts for you from some of my sponsors...

just for you.

An inspired evening.

Ticketing will be limited....but i will let you know more..

really soon.

i promise.

whew....

so....how was your weekend....did you purge and tie your children up like i did....

no....

i didn't think so....

Oh...

one more thing....the winner of Simply me day is:

Rachel of little nest!

{email me and i will forward your info to Jamie...and thank you Jamie....you are SO generous!}

I love the knee highs. . . I have never worn them. I know that is probably sinful. But they look really great! I will look into them!

I am going to run, not walk, but run to Target. Oh how I LOVE Target!... and I love knee highs. Live in them with my boots during the winter.

Thanks for sharing the find!

I absolutely adore knee high socks that peak out of boots, and I own some of my own Targetanthroesque socks. Love them. I also organized closets and painted French words on my bureau drawers to make them more appealing. And yes, my kids also fought. We have so much in common :).

I haven't worn knee socks in years, but I do remember the days when I did. They sure make knee hi's a lot more fashionable than they used too, that's for sure. It's a good day for me when I've managed to organize a closet. Today was actually a very good day!

Farmgirl Paints said...

I cleaned my refrigerator...does that count? I think I need you to dress me. I love your style, all the skirts and boots. You just look so cute. I want to branch out with my fashion or lack thereof.

I would love to come to your enchanted evening thing. Sounds like soooo much fun. Why do you live in Illinois and I don't??

Pat said...

Hi Kasey,
Love the idea of an inspired evening. Would the invites be open to even those of us who do have a blog? I hope so. Love knee socks too even though I am a little elderly for them. Who cares, still wear them!!
Always love your blog, you are the best!

Pat said...

Me again.... sorry about the typo, meant to write the invites open to those of us who DO NOT have blogs.

I love knee high socks...but my problem is skirts to wear them with:)...and love how they peak above the boots too...and your evening sounds just splendid...you have the best ideas...I may say...you do indeed!

Hi! i'm really looking forward to what you are planning for dec. 5th...
i live in chicago and find that there aren't too many events for us like-minded gals here. we have some good flea markets (kane and grayslake) but that'a bout it it seems. i would love to do a boutique flea market or barn/farm type show, but i live in the city and space is very limited. will you be doing any shows from your home soon? if you're interested in collaborating with a fellow chicagoan ever, let me know or check out my blog....

$6 at Target, REALLY? I'm so there tomorrow!! I don't wear them as cute as you do, peeking out from boots, but I love that they're cute for me... even hiding under my jeans!

Katie said...

I LOVE your boots!! Where did you get them?

Ali said...

Oh my! I adore your boots and ALL of the cute knee-high socks too! I am currently purging my little ones closet. She has so much stuff and it is too cute and little to get rid of! I keep thinking that I should save it just in case we have another one someday! Does that make me a hoarder? Have a great day!

I love knee highs. My favs are a pair of pink and black argyles from Kohl's.

My kids were sick all week and my six yr. fell down the stairs and split his head open. Rough week for/with the kiddos.

Julie Harward said...

I love your knee socks..the lacy tops sticking out of the boots is way cute! I wear them with my cowboy boots through the winter so the boots don't rub on my leg. Love-em!
Come say hi :D

I was totally at target today...wish I would have looked at the socks. Very cute of course.

We too are going through summer/fall clothes...great fun...

Your so lucky to have great legs! mine are chubby and would do dammage to others if I let them out in public..I think that the knee socks rock and maybe I can talk to my daughter and she can wear them and I can live through her LOL ..very cute post!

I love how you wear them peeking out of boots!

I just tackled the job this weekend of switching clothes for the season (even have the goodwill bag of old clothes!)too!

An evening like that would be so enjoyable and super fun, especially during the holidays.

They look so cute...I love those knee socks, xv.

Tiffany said...

Those have got to be the cutest knee socks ever! LOVE them! You totally can pull off stuff that so many people cannot! Those boots look great!

I actually went through my girl's closet this weekend and put everything that has to do with summer in a garbage bag. I got all of her winter clothes out of the basement and so her closet is officially winterized! It was too much fun!

Anne Marie said...

add parisienne farmgirl to your e-vite - she lives near us - well, you -

and I am going to target for those socks immediately - and where did you get those boots? - like those too -

I've apparently got to get some knee high socks because they look fabulous... the rest of my body has gone to hell but my calves are still looking fine.

Wendy said...

Dang it Kasey...why do you live so far away! You know I would love to come to your soiree. I'm seriously doubting I can fly in for the event though. sigh.

As for the socks....LOVE THEM. NEED SOME. WALKING OUT THE DOOR TO TARGET RIGHT NOW. Oops! Still in my jammies. Better get dressed first! And too bad I have ugly knees. Yep, ugly knees. Still need the socks though.

When I was in junior high, my mother insisted I wear knee highs with skirts and I detested them...then! But, I must say, you look so stylish in your socks; perhaps I should give them a second chance:) Cute boots, too!
Whew...so glad you survived the 4-day weekend with the kiddos, and that they survived, too;)

PS~Erin said...

I love the socks peeking out of the boots, and those boots: I'm in love with them. Details, please.

Your Inspired Evening sounds so nice... I so wish I was closer.

It was just me and my little guy this weekend, so there was no fighting. It's amazing how they can be little angels when it's one on one.
