Oh..hello monday.

Have you noticed that it's getting darker earlier?.....which leads to shorter days and longer nights.

The only reason i mention this is because for as long as i can remember...i have been a morning person...which in short translates to not a night person.

All of my friends know that if taking me to a movie that starts anytime after 9....then i'm pretty much a

goner....i am the one falling asleep....my head totally falling forward before it jerks back into place.

I won't even mention the fact that i have restless leg syndrome...

though it has not been confirmed....

but i'm really...positive...that i have it.

I am the girl that in the winter....who wants to climb into bed as soon as the children are asleep.

If you call my home after nine.....it goes straight to voicemail....

yes...i am her.

Anyways....where am i going with this....who knows....but i guess i'm just letting you know not to call my house after 9...

So....back to what i was talking about....apples....

err....

well....now i am going to chat apples....we have a gazillion left over from last weekend when we went apple picking {again}....so i got my trusty helpers..and gathered them around to help me peel....so that we could make our favorite....apple crisp.

Did you know that my recipe calls for 3 sticks of butter....yes....and because i did not want to wake up in the middle of the night with a heart attack.... i decided to drastically reduce the amount....but there is

nothing better than apples basting in a pan on the stove full of melted butter.

We made our apple crisp...then gathered around as a family to watch the movie..."Goonies".

Do you remember that movie growing up? Oh...how i remember quite clearly...how in love i was with

Rand....and i really wanted to be Kerry.....so much so...

that i asked my mother to sign me up for acting classes.

gulp.

My mother agreed....and so she signed me up.

We arrived at the studio in Hollywood where she dropped me off {yes...back then you just dropped off your 12 year old at a studio and tell her you'll be back in a few hours....}

and there i was with about 100 other people who probably paid $100 each for acting class.

It was all going well....till they decided to split everyone into small groups.....then give us all a script to memorize.....

and then we had to go back into the huge group of people.....

stand up in front of everyone...

and say our script.

If you know me...i'm not shy...i like to talk....

but i do not like to talk in front of people....

my eye's get glossy...

my lips start to twitch...

saliva starts to pool in my mouth...

and i start stuttering....

let's just say....i never got that "call back".......

i was that girl that they said......don't call us....we'll call you.

Till this day.....i still dread speaking in front of people....

if Oprah ever calls me...to be on her show....i'll be the one that they say...

just don't look at the red light on the camera.....act natural....

but i can't take my eyes off the red light...and then Oprah will have to

cut to a commercial....and i just know that Matthew McConaughey will be sitting

next to me on the sofa....thinking i'm just a moron....when all i want to do

is smile at him.....

but my eye's are on the red light.

So....

thank goodness it's monday...and there are NO red lights here at my house..

whew.

I hope you had a great weekend....the apple crisp was to die for....but not literally....

obviously.

and if you notice the pic above.....of lola holding the sugar....you will notice a chunk of hair missing on her forehead.

We are still in the process of figuring out how it got cut......

because....

lola claims that she does not remember cutting it....

nope...

not.at.all.

even though i found the chunk on the bathroom floor.

It's time to call secret agent mom.....{that's my alter ego..}

xo

Oh Kasey, you crack me up!!! I just loved the movie Goonies too! My best friend and I (yeah, back in the day before we called them BFF's, when we used to ride the bus anywhere together at the age of 12) watched it every weekend for months. I had it memorized.

Maybe I better go find it on DVD for my kiddos...bet they'd love it too!

Thanks for the little trip down memory lane! (Are we really THAT old?)

Hey you guuuuuys! I had a crush on Mikey; I wanted asthma SO bad as a little girl, just so I could have an inhaler like him. Horrible, right?! Enjoy your blog!

So funny -- the "chunk missing from Lola's forehead" -- I guess every kid does that!! :)

Apple crisp... umm....

Movies after 9PM.... no way. Me either! I fall asleep in movies no matter WHAT time we go... Kinda what I'm known for. ;)

Happy Monday!!

You know...I read your blog to keep my mind sharp..from following your thought patterns! :)
The apple crisp sounds great, love them! I am a night person, but my daughter was always in bed by 8, even as a teenager! So when you go to bed early you have time to dream about being on Oprah I guess. And it's a good thing you didn't make it into Hollywood..I hear it's child actors get really messed up! Have a good day..and come say hi :D

It's nice to sit down for a little while every morning and have something to read that helps take the mind off of the stressful things.
I also can't fail to mention how weird it is that your Fin is wearing the same shirt as my Finn and they have the exact hair and mischievious grin.
Sounds like a good weekend!

We had a similar hair incident with Meg a few years ago...she still won't talk!

Wow! What a way to start a Monday! I love it! Oh man, you are going to have to share that apple crisp recipe...pretty please! Oh my, Lola is a cutie with that little chunk of hair missing! I am such a morning person too! I love getting up first to a quiet house and watching the sun come up! Have a great day!

Kacey said...

Oh no - a missing chunk of hair! (I didn't even notice) I don't have any brothers and sisters, so I did that to my stuffed animals (and occasionally Barbies) when I was a kid.

Yum - I love apple crisp! But 3 sticks of butter definitely seems like a lot.

Can you teach me to be a morning person? It would really make my life so much easier. :-)

does it freak you out that over 1,000 people "follow" you?

i must have cut her bangs when i was cutting mine...sorry!!

Jen Kershner said...

I have no good reason but I would have pegged you for a night person. I'm totally a morning person too though. And I hate when my phone rings after 9! I think that makes me officially old.

Martha said...

That is definitely me to the "t" about falling asleep during late movies...9:00 is late for me too:)...and when I have to stay up late...since we tried to rent movies this weekend with hubby...well fell asleep for couple of hours...then WIDE awake for the next movie...YEP...so no late movies in this house...by the way...Goonies was an all time fav at my house...I wore the tape out so much from watching that movie...

Apple crisp sounds wonderful...I'll have to try making some since I picked up so much excess apples from T.J.'s...although I think I would have cut some of the butter too...and NOT let Hayley see that...she said "Yum" when she saw butter when I used it in a recipe...all probably our fault from vaca:)

~I didn't even notice sweet Lola's hair until you pointed it out...
{sorry for the extra long comment} ~ Love your weekend...sounds terrific!

Kasey,
I am so much more a night person and therefore am thrilled with these longer nights! Plus, it means I get to see my boyfriend more, since he closes shop when it's dark! Thank you so much for your sweet comments, I really appreciate them. I'm glad you are enjoying my blog as much as I am yours. I only hope to one day have as many followers as you do! What's your secret? Kori xoxo

What's a stick of butter between friends ? !!!!
I adore 'Goonies'. I watch it every time its on. I think I know the script off by heart.I love it when the ship sails round into the bay at the end !!!!
Has Lola said what she thought might have happened to her hair ? I'd love to know her explanation. I think that the same thing happened to me as a child. Did you know that there is a hair snipping goblin that visits children, Kasey ? XXXX

true story: I was 5 when my mom decided to enter me in Little Miss Bloomfield. I had long, thick, shiny, straight black hair.
Took the scissors to it only days before the competition. Wore a hat and didn't win. lol
glad you had a good weekend. Wish I could have some crisp!

I am so that same way... whenever someone asks me to volunteer for anything, I tell them the prereq is that I don't have to speak in front of anyone. Hands shake... eyes water... It's not pretty. And I was a teacher. A room full of 10 year olds don't count.

I have that sugar in my kitchen!! :-)

Preppy Mama said...

Oh we are cut from the same cloth! Morning person all the way and hate public speaking!!

Lola is a crack up, good luck with that one! Look at you, turning into a REAL mom. Is that what they call it when you bake with them?

I should live close to you. I too am NOT a night person. I love mornings!

3 sticks of butter:o Oh but you made my stomach growl...yummy!!

sandra Lee said...

Morning person here too! and yup, I too fall asleep at the movies...does not matter what time it is, I just fall asleep! Aren't "short bangs" in these days???? hee hee When I put my kids to sleep...I too could not get into my bed quick enough. I am now the first one to bed (kids are 16 and 18) and the first one up in the morn. I love love love morning!!!!

Lisa Johnson said...

You totally reminded me of that Brady Bunch episode where Cindy gets to go on this kiddie game show and she's all bragging, etc. I think Bobbie was bummed that he didn't make the show. Then Cindy's there with her crisply ironed plaid dress and bows in her pony tails and when the red light goes on the camera she freezes and just stares making a complete fool of herself. Okay, I guess I watched too much tv as a kid to remember that much detail.

Hugs,

Lisa

I'm a total morning person. If the phone rings past 8 o'clock I'm wondering who would call at this hour?

My husband would love me forever if I made him apple crisp.

I'm not a morning person or a nighttime person...hmm..I am a wine person though, does that count for anything???

I need that recipe, because after the whoopie pies, it doesn't really matter how much more fat I eat...I'm just going to be a fatty, fatty chk pattie!

Hope Lola is feeling better!!!

ALSO....FEEL FREE TO POST SOME OF THOSE RECIPIES! MY POOR KACEY HAD BAKED APPLES FOR THE FIRST TIME AT PRESCHOOL AND I ACTUALLY HAD TO ASK HER "LUNCH LADY" HOW TO MAKE THEM! I NEED A BETTER RECIPE THAN THE SCHOOL CAFETERIA'S!

Your posts always make me smile :)

We just got Goonies from netflix last week. My kids didn't like it! How can anyone NOT like Goonies?
They only wanted to know why no one swam after the ship in the end. Geeze!

Sooooooooo funny :-) Love to read your blog!! I too am NOT a "night person" nor is Mr. CCC. He nods off around 8pm {I've even caught him - with my digital camera - sitting in front of his laptop at his desk with his hand on the mouse...fast asleep!}. Movies...at home OR at the theater {who can afford to go to a movie at a theater these days???} are out of the question unless the movie is on at 10am :-)
Apple crisp was the ONE thing we learned to make/bake in Home Ec...remember that class in high school? The boys took Shop and they girls learned to "cook" in Home Ec {don't recall what the Ec stood for}. Now I need to get my very old recipe out and make some for the weekend.

Yep. Can't judge.
I did the same thing as Lola, in the same place, very close to my head. No bangs. No way to clip back. No way to do anything with. Right before we were supposed to get pictures taken....

But I distinctly remember crouching in the bathroom and grabbing my bangs and snip! So, I can imagine how you felt about it....
