the release....

I am "one" of those moms that is not very involved in "school" activities.
Don't judge me......{i can see you rolling your eye's...}
You should be glad that i don't home school.
I don't volunteer for field trips......{but somehow i am going on one next week},
I rarely help out in class...{but somehow i'm there every Friday morning},
I am not part of the PTA.
nope.
am not.
But I do hang with the PTA moms at boot camp, so at least I feel like i can catch up on what is going on
between the moms while sweating my arse off.....

so i felt really good about showing up at school last week for the butterfly release. I even dragged the sick 4 year old.
Did i mention at all about my kids having a 12 hour stomach bug last week?
probably not.
because i was too upset with my husband
for sleeping thru the night
while they all vomited.
all night.
all over me.
I just started talking to him today....

these are the images i took......

Girl,I have to laugh at this Post, Beautiful Butterfly Release by the way..When my teen was younger I was Ms. Involved mom, into everything from PTA to Room Mom field trips in all. In the last two years, not a field trip have I been on. I do feel bad for my son sometimes, it seems as though soon as the teen was finished with elementary school so was her mom. I definately Did Not roll my eyes, I too am one of those moms. Nothing worse than a kid throwing up, ughhhh

Have a wonderful day!

I've only heard of that being done at weddings. Having it for a school treat is such a good idea.

I think PTA is completely overrated. People seem to sign up with such enthusiasm at the beginning of the year and then are dying to get out by the end of the school year. That's my experience anyway. I'm sure there are lovely PTA's out there.

Thanks for sharing. xx

how is it they always manage to sleep through the puking?

what a fun day for the kids!

I'm gonna give you a high five for knowing NOT to get involved. I have been the complete opposite for the past (gulp) 15.5 years and this has been my last year. I will never ever be a part of it again. 2 years that have been a nightmare and this mommy is through. Now, I say you buy yourself a Starbuck's (on me) and bask in the fact that you are waaaay smarter than many of us who joined and got burned.

Silly hubby - do men ever learn?

I have always enjoyed (as have all 3 of my kids) the butterfly lessons.

okay so our preschool did this and as soon as the butterfly was released a bird came down and ate it and the kids could see the wings sticking out of its mouth. Can you believe it?

Good morning Kasey :)

I'm not one of those moms either (although I tried in the beginning). The other moms don't like me and I don't like them so we have a mutual understanding... don't talk to me and I won't talk to you. It's a lovely arrangement :)

The butterfly release is so neat and I love the pics you took!

Your outfits for the trip are PERFECTION.

xoxo,
rue

Oh and I'm sorry about the kids being sick :(

How can husbands sleep through that?? I wouldn't have spoke to him either.

Great pictures! I'm the type of Mom who helps from "behind-the-scene"...sending in treats for parties, baking cookies for school functions, etc.
How is it that Dads can sleep through all the chaos when a child is sick? I need to go ask my hubby because he does the same thing! I sometimes wonder if he just pretends to be sleeping:)

Pretty butterflies! I'm not one of those moms either. I try to help out where I can but I have no desire to be the class mom. There are days I feel guilty but most of the time, I'm okay with it. I am involved with them at home and with their sports. We can only do so much!

Your hubby deserved the silent treatment! Next time he's up!
Hope everyone is all better now.

I am so glad there are other Mom's out there that don't have to be a super school mom! I knew there was a reason I loved this blog world! I was pretty involved when my girls were younger but decided when my 3rd was born to retire from the room mom circuit and have never looked back. The butterfly pics are fabulous!

That looks like so much fun. I hope no birds ate theirs that would have sucked. I would tell you what I call our "bus stop" moms but it would be totally politically incorrect and I do not want to offend;) They are fun to watch though. I did volunteer quite alot all through grade school with all three of my kids but only to keep those "ladies" kids away from mine!! Don't get me wrong though they are not all bad just a certain few in my hood. One bad apple ruins the whole bunch though. Isn't that how that saying goes??
Have a lovely Memorial Day!!

This was my favorite activity when I taught school way back when.
Sorry about the throw up and the hubby - how can they sleep through everything?

Glad to hear that you are guilt- free...I don't do the field trip, room mom, pta thing either, because, let's face it with 2 toddlers still at home, the babysitting arrangement fiasco is too much for me to deal with. I feel guilty, though, so I keep telling myself I'll be more "involved" when the babies are in school. We'll see if that really happens however!

Lovely butterfly pics!

Gorgeous photos!!
HOW DO MEN SLEEP THROUGH STUFF LIKE THAT?!
So not right!!
I don't know how you didn't bring one of your poor sickadees to bed and let the poor baby up chuck all over the sleeping man ;) Maybe you did mentally. I don't think I could ever ACTUALLY do that--BUT I'd certainly mentally ponder it!!
You are an awesome Mom!!

Pretty pictures! You're there for the stuff that matters! (I don't drive on field trips...used to, but by kid #3 - I'm just done).

Hi CAsey!!!! I am usually the one who is up with the kids although my hubby has gotten better at helping during the day if they are sick. I tried to be involved when my kids were in a charter school and it was so "cliquey" .The same moms were picked for the field-trips. Then the last year I was finally "picked" for a few trips and they put all the wild boys in my group (each time)!!!!! Oh well, now we homeschool !!!!! Sara

Hilarious! Oh how many times I've been in your shoes! Glad your talking to him again, though :) Looks like fun...great pics, too! That would be my sort of day...I love butterflies :)

A good friend of mine just did this with her 4 and 5 year old girls. One of the butterflies got out of the netting before she could take it outside and the girls both started screamed and ran into their room and slammed the door. When they went in to see what all the fuss was about they were hiding and screaming that the butterfly was a monster. Apparently they had been watching Spongebob Squarepants and a butterfly had been in that particular episode as a monster and they were scared out of their wits. Oh the influence of TV!!
Love your pictures and sorry this is a long comment but I just had to share that story. It still makes me laugh.

I laughed when you said your hubby slept through the night while the kids were vomitting. I think they think it's our job, but if it brings any encouragement to you at all, I think it's pretty much universal thinking with men. You're not alone...lol

I went on my first field trip of the year today! And I only went cause it was a trip to WHOLE FOODS, and I needed granola, and I knew there were free samples, and it was just a walk from my home, and next to Starbucks.

oh...and also cause Anthro is across the street...and yes, dear Lord, there is a fabulous sale...latte bowls for $1.95...HAD to buy more colors!

If you're going to attend a school activity that looks like a good one. Great pics!

Oh how I love it when my hubby sleeps through an entire night or two of sickness.. he finally told me that his secret is putting his head "good ear" side down on the pillow.

What a great day for you to experience! And those pictures...i just love the one with all the fingers holding the butterfly. You've inspired me to find one this weekend with my kiddos :)
Sorry to hear they had the BUG. My puppy currently is down with something and just wants to cuddle. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful post. We can't all be supermoms, but we'll sure try!

Kasey we've all been there... just do the best that you can for your kiddos and your marriage and live happy and full! Hubby's simply have "hearing" issues! How is that the dog can growl right in his ear in the night to go out but I am the only one who hears that??? Go figure.(He never heard the kids either) PS Love the outfits!...wish AshleyR & I were going...one of these days :)
PSS Thanks again for the Restaurant.com gift card for Ash!

So sweet!

I don't get super involved either. I just don't have time! My jewelry orders keep me busy a good part of every day.

But I do love to go on field trips when they have them.

LOL - this post made me laugh. We sound like kindred spirits when it comes to involvement with school activities. Yikes.

The butterfly thing is cool - we did it with our son a couple years ago. Good times.
