oh..hello monday

oh...hello monday!

Yes...that is me.....gorging myself on an apple.....just like in the garden of Eden.......and like Eve....i broke the rules.....and ate an apple.

well....so did my kids.

darn those rules.....

this is our back yard.....i bet you didn't know that we had an apple orchard..did you?

I'm just kidding........

we actually drove about 35 minutes north of my home to apple orchard country.....home to more that 15 apple orchards.

There were a bunch that are huge.....and to me feel like tourist traps.....but i did my homework...and found a darling mom and pop place about 10 minutes off the beaten track.

It cost a bit more for a bushel but it was so nice to have the orchard to ourselves....

there were only 2 other families picking as well......which made it so nice.

we broke another rule here.

no. climbing. trees.

but my rule was........you can climb a tree in order for mom to get a picture....just don't fall out....because if you fall out...then i will deny that i let you climb the tree.
{seriously...what am i teaching these kids.....eeek}

I don't know about you....but Autumn is my element.....and i like the word autumn.....so much better than fall....
but that's just me i guess.
autumn
fall
autumn
I {heart} layers...i {heart} boots....i {heart} crisp temperatures.

You are probably wondering where the oldest child is......oh...and possibly the husband?
Yup...they decided to forgo the apple picking adventure and go to a golf tournament....naughty boys.

I also forgot to tell you about my date night on Saturday.....yes...date night.

We went into the city to see U2 {the band}......they played a sold out show at Soldier field......it was incredible. I won't lie....i'm not the biggest U2 fan....but Bryan is....and seeing them live was so much fun...even though the beer was so expensive.

Do you remember the first concert you ever went to? I do.

It was Madonna......her 'like a virgin' tour.......and i was about 10 or 11.

My dad worked security on the side at Dodger stadium in L.A........so whenever there was a cool concert..he would take me and a friend.

I think i was the popular girl in 5th grade.

sheesh.

A 5th grader and her friends at a tour called 'like a virgin'.

xo

oh.....just an fyi.....i sent out the invites for my "open house" on October 3rd.....so if you didn't get it or would like to be invited to come shopping......just email me.

I'm thinking of having Denisa {the famous french crepe lady} coming to set up as well.

My first concert was Shawn Cassidy but I also went to Madonna's "Like a Virgin" tour concert - in Chicago. I was not 10 or 11 - I was 16, I think....

Good Night!

We used to do that with the kids years back, strawberry picking too. How fun! Ive been thinking and can't remember my first concert? I have been to so many, hmmmm I think it was Rush very early 80's, but I do remember my first U2 tour was 1985 Los Angeles Sports Arena. Ive been to 3 others but I'm skipping this tour. Too Big, there playing the Rose Bowl here, too old for 60,000 people. Have a great week, Jamie

Isn't apple picking the best? What fun with little ones...and what sweet pictures. Charlie Sexton was my first concert...well, as opposed to attending Vienna Choir Boys' concerts with my parents and things like that. It was in downtown Seattle and I attended with one of my older brothers. A couple of months later, I saw A-Ha at the same venue (The Paramount) with my very new friend Sara. I invited her to the show the day I met her at our friend's cabin. (The friend was not allowed to attend) Sara has been one of my best friends ever since...

Great post Kasey....apple picking sounds so lovely.

Just caught up and read your last few posts.....loved the love letters (and laughed about "Homer"....and loved the "What I know....." post especially.

Hello cutie, what a lovely post! We have an apple tree in our garden, I went out to have a look yesterday but I've missed my chance; there was only 1 good apple left! Better luck next year. My first concert was the Like a Virgin tour too. Have a fun week. x

now this sounds like fun. I would have so let my kiddos climb the trees for a photo too.

My first concert was the beach boys with my parents, but the big one was Janet Jackson. I think I was like 10 too. There is no way my kids could do that now, ha!

Hi Kasey...

I wanted to thank you for coming by and your thoughtful words for my Dad and I. I guess I am praying for a miracle...then again, cancer is rearing it's ugly head again.

This post is great. You took some great photos. I love the one of the apple in the tree. Your kids look like they are having fun!

Have you ever heard of Wick's Apple House in Dowagiac, Michigan~near Sister Lakes? It's about 1/2 hour from our Lakehouse. It's a very cool place with a restaurant and gift shop to boot.

I too, saw Madonna during the Like A Virgin Tour. I was more like 22 And...I brought my 16 year old niece!! I lived in a little studio in Lincoln Park and used to walk down Clark St. decked out in my crusifixes and gloves! lol!!

Would love to come to the 10/3 party...I'll let you know...

Thanks again for caring.

xoxo

Do you remember the country group Alabama? My brother took me to see them when I was little.

Love to see your thought process and just hear your heart when you blog. Thanks for being you!

Oh how I miss going to the orchards....In Cali about a 30-40 minute drive from my house was Apple Hill. There were several farms that you could go to and pick apples and each of them had other specialties too. It was always the highlight to the start of autumn. I'm a bit older than you, my first concert was when I was 14 and it was a Dave Mason concert. Only someone my age who listened to rock 'n roll would remember him. I might be considered antique or at the least vintage LOL.

Autumn is so much better, but I always say Fall.

My hubby and I are U2 fans and wanted to see them in Houston, but it didn't work out. :(

My first concert was to a MTV concert tour with Color Me Bad,(Remember "I wanna sex you up") C&C Music Factory and Gerardo(Rico Suave)!!! Ha Ha!! I was in Junior High... What was my mom thinking???

Trying to plan my trip to see you, I think I'll email you with my thoughts. How can I not go now, shopping and crepes! Perfect!

Happy Monday!

First concert: New Kids on the Block. Yup.

Oh, I agree, autumn sounds way better than fall! Love apples too, sounds like you guys had a great time. What do you plan on doing with those apples? Now you've got me wanting some apple butter! It's been so long since I have attended a concert. I am thinking of taking my 13 year old to something really cool soon. Take care.

Laura said...

must put picking apples on my to do list for autumn.
we call autumn "season of love":
it is when my husband and I met
then got engaged
then married

it is hard to fully enjoy the season here in LA
this is when I miss"home" the most
the mornings are trying to fool me here...
every morning I wake up to a chill, and I say to Luke, "Today mommy gets her pumpkin spice latte!"
and by the time we are dressed, it is hot as hell.
back to iced vanilla latte

have a wonderful autumn Monday...stay out of those trees

I drive by a darling apple farm everyday in Santa Ynez, "Apple Lane Apple Farm". Fun. My first concert was in 1980, at UCLA, The Rolling Stones. My parents actually let me ditch school to attend. Guess who opened for them, and was booed off stage...Prince. Mick Jagger had to get on stage and convince the crowd to give him a chance. I was a skinny freckled faced 10th grader amongst all these rockers...if my parents had any clue, there is no way I would have been allowed to go.

my first "real" concert was good ole' backstreet boys! :)
