Do you also remember the post in which i said how i detest my kitchen cabinets?
It's been a big debate whether to paint the beautiful cherry cabinets or to keep them. The nice couple that owned the home before us, did an amazing job with this 100 year old home.......except in the kitchen. They updated it tooooo much. A farmhouse in which they painted all the molding white, every door in the home white, the trim, the walls, it screamed......cottage farmhouse. UNTIL you got into the kitchen.
Cherry cabinets, black quartz counters and black appliances.
not at all farmhouse cottage, but urban with a bit of contemporary.
yuck.
Then i took over....
I've had to wait almost 2 years to be able to do what i wanted in this kitchen.........
I got 3 estimates to have the cabs painted. 2 were out of my range, and the last guy came in and saved my day.....

Oh, I can relate! Our kitchen looks alot like yours right now. Cabinet doors off and our golden oak painted cream. We have been working on this kitchen for over 1 yr...it's taking so long due to our super hectic schedules but hope to get it done before the mid of June!
Kasey,
I am recently addicted to your blog. I LOVE the paint, who makes that gray? My sitting room is in need of a new color and I think this would be perfect-o! Can't wait to see the after. Thanks,

Oh that is going to look fantastic! Actually I have thought about your kitchen several times since you posted about it before (I'm weird like that)when you said your friend said not to paint it. I was new to your blog but really, really wanted to say "paint it, paint it!" I'm so excited.I know it will be fabulous. Can't wait to see the pics :o)

Aahhh! I'm so excited for you! This is going to make a HUGE difference. I can't wait to see it finished!
Kasey, this is going to be awesome! I can tell I love it already. I know you will never regret it! cherry cabinets just aren't you! And I bet every person reading this has the exact same things in their pantry (except me) I would but all my stuff has to be gluten free. grrrr..... I CAN"T WAIT to see the final result!!!
Can't wait to see it. I did the same thing with my cabinets. Got a really good deal too. Only problem was the painter was like the guy in Murphy Brown. He came on his days off from his regular job, spent a couple of hours faux finishing, then went home. Needless to say it took three months. It has been 4 years now and I still love it. Now I've got to go check out the rest of your blog and see the other pictures of your home. I have a hint that it quite lovely!
I'm happy for you, it's so nice to have the house decorated the way we want.
I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of your finished kitchen.
Alessandra
It is going to be awesome. I painted the cabinets in our house when we moved it, what a task! I can't wait to see pictures.
You know what i was thinking? how much I loved the 'open door' look...BTW I thought the cherry was very pretty...but I know the look your going for..It's gonna come a awesome!
YEAH! So glad you decided to paint them! The crown at the top is gorgeous...looks like you are going to be leaving the top area of the cabinets open?? I am so jealous ~ it is going to look beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished room!
Good for you. I have so often wanted to paint cabinets and just didn't have the nerve. I can't wait to see yours all finished. I know it will look stunning. Hugs, Marty

Oh Kasey I am so excited for you!! I want to do this to my kitchen so bad I can't stand it. Just a little chicken on doing it right. If you can, can you tell me what kind of paint or steps your wonderful painter man took to make your dream come true. :)

That kitchen of yours is going to look fab-u-lous when you get through with it! Loving the Swedish grey color:)
Oh my...this is just the push I need to do my cabinets...why is it that the men in my life....all think it is a sin to paint wood? Your blog is wonderful and I'm happy to have found it! Be well, Laura
im a sucker for white cabinets - so clean, fresh and beautiful! cant wait to see the final result!
great blog!
things are looking goooooood .. cant wait to see the Finale :)
Can't wait to see them all painted up!! We painted our oak cabinets a few years ago. Actually, my Dad did it for us while me and my hubby were on a weekend trip to Chicago...he he. He did a great job!! I wasn't blogging then so taking a before picture wasn't on my mind. It is amazing what a difference paint can do for a room.
That looks like a lot of hard work but i'm sure it will look fab!
oh can't wait to see how it all comes out. Was that the painter on the phone telling hiis buddy..darn it I should have charged her more...there are way too many cabinets in this kitchen! HA~ Happy Sunday Kasey!
Hello Kasey,
I wait with baited breath to see the final redo of your kitchen. I can understand your desire to paint perfectly good cabinets. I did the same thing except mine were a 1950's blonde or golden oak and it was just too much- we painted the doors only and actually left a rectangle border of the blonde on each door. I came out rather Danish modern but we really love it.
Hugs,
Penny
Can't wait to see the big reveal!
You cracked me up w/ "I Spy" In your cabinets!! Good for you!! This will be beautiful I am certain!
Kasey,
You go girl! Life is too short to live with cherry cabinets! I am in the middle of doing the same thing in my laundry room. I can't wait to see your outcome - you are going to L-O-V-E it. Jill
It looks amazing. Truly. And yes, i blew up every image to see inside your cabs. Better than looking through the medicine cabinet if you ask me. I'm so happy that you have bright colored plastic kid stuff just like me. Mixed in with teacups and ironstone. Yay!
add a cup of sour cream, four eggs, pudding mix, 1/4 cup oil, 1/4 water, and a cup of chocolate chips to a devils food cake mix....
and I have missed you! I am back and blogging after a CRAZY week......
Dang it woman! I am soooooo jealous! I want to paint our cabinets so bad, but we have to wait. Rich said something about too many eggs in one basket... ugh. I can't wait to see it all finished :)
xo,
rue
PS Baby Wren is adorable and a perfect match for Fin ;)
Hello Kasey! I can't wait to see your brand nwe kitchen! I love this grey color!
Have a happy week!
Federica.
Wow...it's going to be fantastic i can tell....i painted all my wood cupboards white a few years ago and what a difference it made!!!! You will love it!!! I love the color !
Oh, I can't wait...and girl, I see some canned fruit mixed in there~you're all good. :)
Yay! How exciting to be finally getting it done. I just love painted cabinets and know that your's will be gorgeous. Don't worry about the food, we all have a few products we wouldn't show;)
Oh how wonderful! I love white kitchens! I can't wait to see what the cabinets look like when they're all done!!
That is so exciting Kasey! I know that you are going to be so happy that you went for it. I love white kitchens so much! How did you go about finding someone who paints cabinets? I'd love to know for future reference.
That's too funny! I too live in an old farmhouse (1890) and when we purchased the home it had beautiful solid maple cabinets and black granite counter tops. Well, of course with everything else in my home being shades of white, the kitchen seemed SO out of place. So, with brush in hand, I painted the cabinets white myself. I can't tell you what a wonderful difference it made. I'm sure you'll love the results.
Oh, the anticipations is too much! How could you do this to us?!!
I love that you have betrothed your son!! How cute is that?!
can't wait to see the results! how exciting!!
I just love white cabinetry. We had ugly old builder's grade oak, however, so I didn't have nearly the quandary that you did. I just painted away..and now I love them! Can't wait to see your final product!
WOW! I am dying to paint our gross oak kitchen cabinets in my kitchen white, but i have a hubby who is skeptical...I can't wait to see your 'after' pics! I KNOW its gonna look great, and i must say for all that hard work you are doing, the inside of your cabinets look so organized and nice!
I can already tell that it is going to look a million times better! We just moved from a bungalow that had awful dark stained cabinets in the kitchen. We remodeled and added white cabinets and appliances and it made all the difference. And now we just moved into a 1960's bi-level with horrible oak cabinets...bring on the white paint! Can't wait to see the finished result!
Ready to see the prettiness!
Oh, the white cabinetry is going to look fabulous. I can't wait to see the finished result!
SUPER! Cannot wait....and love how you are doing a last minute "project" before your big sale...totally something I would do!
Looking good!! I think the black couter tops will actually look very nice with the white cabinets :)
I wasn't going to enlarge the image until you told me to. Cake mix...not you Kasey. I can tell that it's going to be a fantastic change. Can't wait to see.
Brave girl you are, posting pics of the inside of your pantry!!
I can't wait to see the finished cabinets, it looks fab already!
Diggin your style! Can't wait to see the results. cherry
I just found your blog today. I can't wait to see the results!
