sweet mary....

Hello my name is kasey and i have a problem.......

my problem is my shop.

I know.....how can i have a shop and consider it a problem....right?!

My problem....at hand......is that i love everything i buy for my shop......but i obviously can't keep everything.....

because like i said before......

i already have OCD .

There are many levels of obsessive collecting disorder....and mine seems to be at the very height of the scale....so much so that my doctor took away my credit card.

I demanded an explanation....but the only thing the doctor stated....was that i need to use my shop as a source of therapy.

Of course.....the problem there....is what do i keep and what do i sell?

I know for a fact that i am keeping 'Sweet Mary'. I have been on the lookout for a vintage Virgin Mary for the entire summer.....and i found her this last weekend.

Sorry girls....she's mine.

This locker basket full of vintage grain sacks is another collection.....so i weed thru......seperate.....keep......pile......move to shop.......reconsider.......takeback.....keep.

Shopkeeping is hard work......

at least for a girl like me.......

maybe i should have a shop that just sells weed killer.

But then no one uses weed killer anymore because of the greenhouse effect......and i wouldn't have any money to support my OCD habit.
Or i could run a childcare......
yeah...exactly......then for sure CPS would be knocking on my door.....
so.....here we are.....

On a separate note......my online shop will re-open this Friday.

None of these things will be in the shop when it re-opens....well....maybe a thing or two...

but girls.....it will be just back to the basics........because i have another open house on October 3rd...that i need to gear up for.

Oh....the trials and tribulations....

what i want to know...is do i keep that table or not......

i mean ....how often do you come across the perfect iron legged table with the perfect grey/cream top??

xo

That table is favulous! It truly is one of a kind...my vote is keep it. You can always find different grain sacks, vintage lockers, and other goods. That table is irreplaceable :)

I do the Same Thing with almost Everything I make. I have a Bunch to photo and haven't yet cuz I'm debating on what I want to keep. Like I need another piece of Jewelry. I don't blame you, I would keep Mary too and that Table, OY...Decisions, Decisions...

Keep it and love it! When you tire of it, then sell it - the perfect solution to your shop and OCD. :)

Haha!! Oh do I know the drill!! :)

Come to my house and see that it is a MIRROR IMAGE of the shop! One of EVERYTHING I SELL!

I say, keep the iron table!! Who knows, some day down the road you may decide to sell it and then you will have enjoyed it for a while, then you can move on to new things when you're ready to part with it! :)

By the way.... the weed killer thing? I didn't get the memo on the fact that no one uses weed killer anymore... oops.... we buy that stuff by the bucket-load here!! :)

Keep the table. I have dibs on the grain sacks!! ;)

well, the selfish side of me says sell it...however!! it looks far to amazing in your house to part with it!

Keep the table, keep the Mary, keep the basket. Sell photos of the table, the Mary and the basket. Ha ha! Not much help, I am. Still swooning over your house. Days later. Still trying to figure out how to make everything in my house white and shabby-ish. Ha ha!

I LOVE your Mary...I haven't found the right one for me yet...I'm looking! She's beautiful. I feel your pain! I have some stuff from Alameda to put up, but I keep thinking, well, it could go here...or there. Anyway - keep the table!

Thank you for your blog. I know that sounds strange, but you hvae provided me with a few minutes of sweet, precious time w my 15 month old daughter. She LOVES the music on your blog. She has danced with me and is literally pulling my hands from the keyboard to make me clap. We are on song 10 I think. Thanks for an unexpected blessing. What a precious time with her!

that table looks like it was meant to be in your house...so do the locker basket, grain sacks, and mary. perhaps you need a new doctor? :-)

Kasey -
What you need is a conscience counselor. What??? You ask? My sister had the same problem as you and her therapist suggested a conscience counselor, that is someone who would become her conscience when she was shopping to help her with her OCD, to tell her she already had two, three, etc of that item already and didn't need another one. I can be a conscience counselor for you :)

"You don't need that table," "You need to give it to me" LOL!!
Seriously, if it were me, I would definitely keep it.

what kinda lens are you using in the reflections shot?
mine died
all $300 dollars of itself
hence the blurry dark photos on many of my beloved beach shots.

What a dilemma Kasey and I can understand your hesitation in selling those gorgeous goodies. I think you had better come to France and visit me and then we could really compound the problem! xv

Kasey, no brainer. You KEEP that table. It's too fabulous not to keep. Besides, it looks too perfect in your home. Wow, you found a nice Mary - it's not easy to find a really nice Mary statue. p.s. I have OCD too and my husband keeps telling me to open up a shop.

You do indeed have a dilemma:) I don't think I'd be able to sell a thing! Perhaps you could look at it this way...the more you sell, the more you can buy? But, keep the table;)

Hello Kasey - I'm so happy you've found sweet Mary. She's beautiful. Definitely a keeper. And, btw, I do believe the table is a keeper too. I think you'd regret selling it. It's so unique and fabulous! Oh, and I need a locker basket. I cannot for the life of me find one here in San Diego. I've searched high and low. It's killin' me. I need (ha...need) it for my school room.

Blessings,
Marie

The general consensus seems to be, keep the table, I agree! Because if you choose to sell it, it will be snatched up right away, and you'll never get it back. But if you keep it and change your mind later, or find one you like better, you can always sell that one. So you really can't lose if you just keep it. Beautiful!

Laurel said...

I say you must keep it! You must. I mean really how often do they come along....and when another one does, then if it is just as perfect as the other one, then you keep that one too and you have yet another collection. O.k. you've got me...I've got it too...OCD bad!
But really, keep it, you must!

Oh I love those old metal baskets! I came across one just like it in this store Kiosk in New York and have been kicking myself for ages for not picking it up. My tendency is to throw things out, but if I had things as nice as yours I'd keep it all!

This would be the reason that I don't have a shop...if I did, there would be a door, a window and a counter with a phone on it ...that's all !!!!
Do you love the table, really love it...then you must keep it !!! XXXX

KEEP IT! or...give it to me. :)
