Benched for good behavior....

uh oh.

I swear this boy gets in more trouble...

but how can i punish a face like that..

i think that's why he gets away with

so much.

I'm using my new 35mm lens on these photos..

.

I happened to be out and about ...

when low and behold...

i came across this bench.

If you know me...

then bench is my middle name.

i

love

benches

distressed iron with a bit of plank wood blended together.

I am asked all the time how can i keep the babies

from climbing all over the

furniture without destroying everything.

well....

i can't.

I don't.

My kids have full reign of our home...

it's the way we want it.

There is no playroom.

Every room is a playroom for them.

That's why we love slip covered...even in white.

What's the fun in having a room that you just

look at all the time and it can't be used?

I dragged this bench in and set it up before

trouble came in and claimed it for his own.

I really only have one rule in the family room..

and it's no eating.

No one really follows that rule....

just like no one

takes up the clothes that

are folded at the bottom of the stairs...

ready to be put away.

Or...

ahem...

the dishwasher full of clean dishes...

seems like everyone likes to grab that clean spoon out

before anyone would even think of

putting anything away.

rules.

who needs them.

Did someone say pillows?

no...

i don't have a pillow problem...

nope..

none..

nada..

zilch.

The wide aperture on the 35mm is perfection

for your close up shots...

really captures that distressed iron.

{just don't ask me what aperture means...}

I'm not quite sure if the bench is staying put in this spot..

but it works for now.

Alright...

now more about that beloved 35mm.

or do you want the bench info?

The lens is a 35mm 2.0 .

which is a prime lens.

Prime lens means it doesn't zoom in or out

so it's perfect for everyday.

I love that you can focus on your

subject...

and automatically...your background can have that

blurred look.

I used this lens on my new camera which is a

canon 50d.

My other camera is a canon rebel xt..so if you are in

the market for a great starter camera....

just email me...cuz i'm selling my beloved rebel.

{updated: camera sold}

Oh...

and as for that bench...

i found it at Homegoods.

Alright....

i should probably go and cook some dinner...

How does mac n cheese sound...
and let me know if you want the recipe...
cuz i can make a killer pot of it.
xo

I'd like to know the price too - your pics always rock and I'd love that recipe! You don't know how much I want to go to HomeGoods, TJMaxx, etc - I broke my leg 6 weeks ago and just got out of the hospital today for appendicitis (I know - my luck sucks!) and I can't wait to go shopping! I want that bench and those shoes from a while back...heck, I just want to walk!!

The bench is awesome!! The pillows even more!

My youngest is 18 and still too young to empty the dishwasher and if I were 'a good mom" I would wash and fold her clothes! Ha!!

Seems like no one follows the "rules" around here, either. I really, really like that bench...too bad there isn't a HomeGoods store close by{my hubby would say that's a good thing}!

I'm still having problems taking photos with my little cheap as chip camera (maybe that's my problem!!)Absolutely have to have the number 12 cushions in the third last shot. I guess the reason is fairly obvious! Where did they come from?

I have one of those little five year old boys with the "yellow" hair (as he calls it!) who likes to get in trouble and loves to make me laugh even more. Can't get enough of him!! It must be that third child!

Since we don't have a HomeGoods, I go there right after Kane...and treat myself. It just makes our TJ Maxx, seem, well...inadequate.

I am si with you on the pillow thing....and now with this screenprinting class- it's ON!

You're selling your camera? I have an envelope on my fridge with "Mama's Camera Fund" on it and I was half way to getting the Cannon Rebel XS- I wonder how similar they are? Someone has probably already purchased it from you, but if they haven't I'd love to at least hear your details. :)

And the pillows are smashing! Just smashing, darling.

Tricia said...

Love your new bench and can't believe you found it at Homegoods! Great photos and regardless of what type of lense or camera you use you have to have the 'eye' for it~ which you certainly do.
Just one question Kasey, how often do you have to wash your slipcovers?? :-)

Tish Jett said...

What a wonderful, wonderful blog you have.

I'm working on a get back to NYC fund at the moment. I won't mention where I live.

I have a pillow problem as well, but don't have the room -- except in the garden to have a bench problem.

Warm regards,
Tish
