Date night....

He called me while on his way home from work.....
and said...
tell lola it's date night tonight.
date night.
I'm not gonna lie and say i was hoping it was me he was taking out...
because i could really use one.
like right now..
as i'm typing...
i need a date night.
Maybe i'll get one while at my parents house...
or would it be to much to ask them to watch the
kids on their 40th anniversary...
which happens to be on Valentines day.
Did i ever mention that they were married in
vegas...
at the Elvis chapel?
I'm going to find a photo of them while i'm at their home...
it's a great story.
Alrighty then...
where was i...
oh..
date night....oh yes...
and it wasn't me that bryan was coming to get...
it was lola.
Lola needs it...and it's a special time with her dad
once a month...all to herself.
They went bowling...
her choice of course...
but bryan lucked out because he almost
was talked into going to get their nails done.
whew.
Nacho's and bowling....
have you ever had bowling alley nacho's?
It's a great way to get sick in the middle of the night..
i promise.
Did you know bowling is big here in the midwest...
we like to go on Thanksgiving...
after we gorged on turkey and think that
we won't fit out the front door.
Anyways...lola and her daddy had a date ...
and i have a feeling next time it might be
going to get nails done.

What a blessed, lucky little girl1 She will grow up knowing how a man should treat her. I love it when I see a girl that gained the gift of good self esteem from her dad! You guys have a good Valentines day (so awesome about your mom and dad too) come say hi when you can :D

What great pics of those two together! We just went bowling tonight as well. The kids LOVE it :)

I think it's especially important to have one night a month spent with a child by yourself to just have fun and bond. It's memories in the making!!!

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day! Can't wait to read about your parents wedding and see the photo.

What a lovely Dad.
I hope that, on the getting nails done date, you will secretly follow them and take lots and lots of polaroids !! I think that we would all love to see Bryan with a french manicure !!
Our date night tonight is all of the family and friends are going to The Royal Albert Hall in London to see The Cirque du Soleil. XXXX

I've gotta tell you, I'm liking that husband of yours more and more. If I wasn't like a hundred years older than he, I might be dreaming of snatchin him away...smile. What a good daddy he is and a good Mommy you are to share him. Do you rent him out?

So very special. What a great night for those two! I had to chuckle when I read about getting the nails done because when I was a little girl my dad used to let me paint his toe nails. LOL.... The things fathers do for their little girls!! And now at my 30 years of age-I think I could still probably get away with doing it still. There is something special about a father and daughter bond. Precious memories. Glad they had fun.

Our daughter recently married and I know that her relationship with her dad prepared her...she is confident and she knows how she expects to be treated...like a young lady/princess. Those date nights are precious memories for them both.

How sweet! My daughter would LOVE this! You should do a date night with your sons at the same time, but they'd probably have you playing laser tag and getting fake tattoos :)

What a wonderful thing that your husband does for your little girl. When she grows up, she will know how a man is suppose to treat a lady.

I would have loved to have seen him get his nails down though:)

I'm mostly kidding :) That's really really sweet and those are moments Lola will ALWAYS carry with her.

My husband has done this with our daughter but not no a regular basis...yet! I love the tradition. So sweet and memorable!

date night is such a lovely idea for a little
girl to learn how special she is and how
she should expect to be treated.

what a great dad!!!

you also might tell him that around 15, 16, 17
she might not be as excited about it as she is now.
...so take her out a lot now while she wants to!

Lucky to be in love - it took me 40 years to realize it was ok for my Dad not to show he loved me and still want him to. So when I see a father be attentive and loving - it tweeks my heart and gives me joy. I have two grown sons and they KNOW mom loves them like mad...here's another hug girl YOU ROCK as a MOM!...Jennifer

what a sweet memory that your husband is making for his little girl! Date night with Daddy, all dads should do that with their girls! My dad and I did that just once but what sweet memories!

congrats to your parents on their 40th!!! Funny my parents anniversary was on Feb 14 too! And they celebrated their 40th also!! We had a big ole Mardi Gras celebration for them. Caught a lot of beads and forgot to cut the cake!!! Oh well we had tons of Jambalya and Gumbo....Just means more cake we have to eat by ourselves! Hee Hee!

BTW would love to see the photo of your parents at the Elvis Chapel! BIG Elvis fan I am!!!.
