Dreaming of white...

I've already started sprucing up for the holidays....and what i love best is doing little vignette's. I started

last week and already finished with the mantel.

Can you believe it's only the middle of november....and since we never have thanksgiving hosted here

at my home...

there is no need for any turkey decorations....

don't get me wrong...

i love turkeys....

i might even have my own one day...

if i can get my hubby to agree on living on a farm....

which by the way...he has agreed to see with me.

So..keep your fingers crossed that we win the lottery...

i might even share some with you.

My kids came home last week to me stuffing marshmallows into this glass container....

so i had no worries that if any of them fell of the floor....

because we live by the 45 second rule in my home...

yes...

i know...

you all live off the 3 second rule...

but us...we like the 45 second one a bit more....

saves us some money....

like if one of the kids dropped an ice cream cone...

i'm all about saying....

take your time....no hurry....

because i'm not getting another one...

i have a feeling that's how my kids stay so healthy...

we eat our germs...

seriously...

i mean...has your kid ever dropped an ice cream cone

on the floor of chuck e cheese......

yup.....

we eat our germs....

i even think that the kids stay even healthier by eating

their own buggers.....

at least the little guy does....

and i swear he's only had one sick day so far.

Now me....i'm actually in bed right now...sick.....

and i have a feeling i use to much hand sanitizer...

and go a little crazy with the lysol spray.

But that's just me...

Anyhoo...

how the heck do i start chatting about my mantel display and get off on the whole kids eat buggers thing...

must be the Tylenol p.m. kicking in....

that way i can take a wee nap and be up in time to watch a little SNL....because normally i'm sawing logs when it comes on...

see...i'm telling you up front that i go to bed early.....

then i can dream of....

dairy barns.....

ok...

so....back to the whole holiday thing....

i plan on being finished holiday shopping by December 24th...

you heard that right....

i am not one of those that was done in june....

ok...maybe Dec 22nd...if i'm really lucky.

So...to kick off the holiday season....

and because i love a little giveaway.....

i have a little "holiday pick me up" package for you.

A darling knit button hat {like the one above}, a $10 starbucks giftcard, and the new Michael Buble c.d...

all wrapped up with a bow for you.
Leave a comment...and i'll choose one of you by Tuesday.
Oh...and new song on the playlist....'straight lines' by
dawn landes..

xo

p.s. The winner of the "meet me for wine" Scarf giveaway from sage creek is Christy Donohoe. {email me}

Love your blog! Just did a little Christmas shopping today as a matter of fact! It seemed like a lot of other people had the same idea - it was crowded everywhere I went! Maybe i'll do a little more shopping tomorrow!

So...So.. Funny! I love the way you write. I agree that we are all way too clean, yet check in my purse and you will find the Germ-X. My sweet little 5 year old kindergarten grandaughter has horribly chapped hands from the germ stuff they use at her school. I am going to put some major Aquafor on it tonight. Don't you wonder if we are killing the good germ too? I love your giveaway and I sure hope I win!.

Love the marshmallows in the jar!! The hat is super cute too. Did you know that I love Michael Bublé? I bought his new cd just the other day...love it too. In fact, I had it playing whilst I was scraping the ice off of my windshield today...after brushing off several inches of snow. Yup! I was thinking what a pretty day it was, and listening to Michael Bublé and thinking...the only thing that would make this better would be if Michael Bublé was the one cleaning off my windshield.

Feel better soon!

In the past, I have completed Christmas shopping by now, have the invitations ordered and ready to send out and the tree goes up the Friday after Thanksgiving. Yeah...this year, if the tree even GOES up, I'll be lucky. See this year at our house reads like a country western song, 'cept we ain't got a dog, so it cain't die! January 9th our neighbors foundation collapsed thanks to our lovely contractor's negligence on our foundation project. Over the last 11 or so months, my husband and 2 little kids and I lived in a hotel for 40 of the coldest days last winter, we have been sued by the neighbor, we are suing our contractor, we lost our permit, State Farm denied our claim for the damage, I got laid off my job, My husband is starting his own business, my car got hit twice and my husband's car was broken into. SO...the last thing on my mind are holiday preparations...I am too busy looking for the piano or anvil to fall on my head! Actually, my son and I did wrap lights on our front porch today. Thought it might be fun to attract MORE attention to the plywood and NO PERMIT sticker gracing the front of our house! Gee, we might even spray paint a holiday mural on the plywood!

Nice to know I'm not the only non-germaphobe in the world. And guess what? My husband and I rarely get sick and my four-year-old boy pretty much NEVER gets sick. Later he told me that he was making the nurse look for the "rest of the chart", cause there was only one page in it, and she was 9 years old! Our kids were seldom sick, and were raised in the country. I think there's something to it, I really do! Great blog, but you ALWAYS have a great blog! Have a great week.

Oh my goodness...

For the last 3 days, I've been making an argument for my husband about how he should say YES to me decorating for Christmas.

So five minutes ago, he's standing beside me talking while I'm checking the ol' blog roll....and lo and behold you have your house all decorated. Thanks for being one more reason why I might be able to decorate before thanksgiving!!

Maybe....he's also the one that said "I want turkeys EVERYWHERE...all over the house...for Thanksgiving decorations.." just to be a butt. He's a handsome butt. A hot mess. Anyways, I am in essence, entering the drawing. Woohoo...go me!

Love the giveaway and really love the mantel. I'm trying to dig up some mirrors to layer on my mantel this year along with mercury glass finials and lots of candles. That's what is in my head anyway. We'll see if it pans out.

I totally agree with you about the 45 second rule - 3 seconds is overrated! Eating ones own germs does make you healthier, right? I would love to win your giveaway but are you sure you want to give away your hat....because you totally ROCK the hat. However, if you are so inclined to part with it, I would love to have it!!!!!

Hope you feel better soon!

I really love hats. This one is super fun and funky so I would love to wear it every day...well, maybe not every day! I just love reading the blog so keep it up!

Ok, you make anything look good. I love anything you are giving away even though I never win. I am so drooling over that huge "5" in the picture!!!! Hope you are feeling better soon.

Here we ago again...I'm guessing that you will have 604 comments by Tuesday! Love the hat...I also love the girl wearing it. We are doing so much better at our house. Now it's time for me to shop for your belated b-day gift...any ideas?

Whenever I visit your blog, your music selection allows me some "me time" when I put earbuds in my ears and block out the rest of the household (usually after dinner and the dishes are done) After viewing your new content I always leave open your blog in one tab while I visit others in a "new tab". Thank you for sharing.

You know you're over "the rule" when you see something laying the table that was possibly from yesterday (or yesterday's yesterday) and you don't blink when you eat it!

I wish I could make even 1 part of my house look like that. Just one part.

Oh Kasey--you are a hoot! Love your blog, giveaways or not! I'm decorating with mercury glass and glitter and natural stuff, like burlap, pinecones and branches. New look this year. Happy decorating...maybe with a pumpkin spice latte!

Loving the decorations, v. cute.

We actually live by the 30 second rule in our house; so not too far behind you! And I have to agree with the eating the germs thing although I may have taken it to another level; when I was 2 my Mum caught me drinking the water in the toilet using the toothbrush cup- yum! Mum says I was the healthiest kid ever, so there you go :O)

Hope you're feeling better soon; it certainly doesn't seem to affect your hilarious writing skills. B x

Perfect giveaway! Annie is in love with those hats and has a little collection going so I would give it to her, but Buble is all mine if I win ;)

We don't spend Thanksgiving at home either, but I'm not even close to pulling out the Christmas stuff. For one thing, I can't find anything in the basement since we moved and for another, I think Rich would have some sort of heart attack LOL You're really tempting me to chance it though, because what you've done looks beautiful :)

I love the marshmallows in the glass container! So cute!!! Although I have NO doubt I would come downstairs to see my kids trying to eat them. :o)

(And I also think my kids don't get sick often b/c my house isn't bleached to death. At least that is what I'm telling myself!) :o)))

I seriously love your white Christmas decorations - beautiful. I've been doing similar decorations. I found the CUTEST mercury glass ornaments at Crate and Barrel a few years ago and they go right along with those ornaments. It's hard to find that style decorating sometimes, but you make it seems so easy.

Oh, and I know you're skipping the turkey stuff this year, (as am I) But I have a beautiful Fox portrait pin giveaway going on this week, just if you or any of your readers are interested.

I love reading because you always bring a smile to my face, for sure! Super cute hat and who doesn't loooove the red Starbucks holiday cups? If Brian would just call "the guy" to come out and fix the fire place I could totally see myself cozying up to the fire place with a cup of hot chocolate and Michael crooning in the background... yeah, if he'd ever get around to getting "the guy" out to fix it! Somehow, I think it's going to be May before it's done and then we won't even need it... siiigh....
