Confessions from an addict.....

I admit it.

I love sugar.

I tell you this because i have no plans in giving it up..

nor do i want to.

I have a sweet tooth....

and you know what......

i am okay with it.

I actually thought really hard about maybe giving it up a few months ago...

seems like it's the craze right now....

giving up sugar in order to lose a few pounds.

I thought about it for a second....

maybe even two...

but who would i be kidding.

I would be the person cheating myself....

i might even get by for a day or two without

having any cravings....

but then i would cave in.

I would be cheating myself....

because i like sugar.

I love a good {and pretty} cupcake.

I love my glass {or three} of wine at night.

I love brown sugar with cranberries in my oatmeal.

I love to bake cookies for my kids....

even though i buy the just pop them in the oven kind from Trader Joe's.

I didn't say i make homemade cookies..now did i?

I love sugar.

When i booked my France trip....

i knew i wanted to lose about 10 pounds.

Winter was not good to me....nor was it good to my thighs....

so i needed to get my body back.

You know what i did....

I re-joined the gym.

I also take a boot camp 2 nights a week.

I exercise 4-5 days a week...

because i have to.

It works for me.

I am down 6 pounds...with 4 more to go.

I really hate to exercise.....

and those 10 sprints up a hill last night are killing me today.

I could barely get out of bed this morning to eat my cupcake...

but you know what....

it works.

My body is getting stronger...

even though i still can't do a damn pull up....

my butt still jiggles when i run...

my clothes aren't so tight anymore....

and i feel great.

Occasionally my kids hate going to the gym childcare....

and i feel bad...

really ...i do.

We have to do something for ourselves...

and exercising is what

i need to do.

I will never run a race....

you couldn't pay me to....

unless of course...

there were cupcakes at the finish line.

I'm with you... I only excersise so that I can eat what I want!

I am not even going to tell you how long I stared at that cupcake at the top of your post.....yum!!

6lbs is fantastic....well done!!! It is thanks partly to you that I have been so focused on the gym these last couple of weeks - I know that you have worked so hard at it.

I find it much easier to control my exercise habits than my eating ones - altho it's taken me ages to realise that....so working out regularly is how it going to have to be.

I can't wait to be in Paris though....coffee and pastries....heaven :) xo

You are so cute. I need to start exercising again. I always feel so much better when I do. I know what you mean about giving up sugar. I can't do it.
So maybe I'll get on the eliptical tomorrow It has been a couple months now since I stopped exercising. UGH Thanks for the inspiration!
Take Care,
Maria
p.s. I was called thunder thighs as a kid. Nice I know, I was all but 5'2 and 110 pounds. But the boys were quite rude to me about my curves. I actually developed an eating disorder because of it. I don't know why but I thought I would share that with you.

Ugh. I think we all dread the "E" word. Exercise. I just had two kids in the last two years and now I started my strict post-pregnancy diet this week.

That cupcake looks yummy and you know what? It has ZERO fat.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I think that you should give yourself a pat on the back because 10 pounds in awesome Kasey. I have been on the wagon now for 8 weeks and I am down 12 - it's hard especially when there are things like cupcakes around. I truly feel that you should not pay attention to the scale ~ you should do it for you ~ if you feel good and can tell in your clothing ~ then it's a good thing ~ non??

I could never give up sugar either...that's why we choose to make other sacrifices...like exercising even though we don't feel like it. ;-)

Annie said...

Oh man - you called me out on this one! I was up to 2 miles on the treadmill - quite the feat for me because I hate the feeling of my butt chasing me - but I got busy and haven't ran since September. I haven't used the bowflex either - jeez I need to get busy before my 10 year reunion hits in July!!

Carmen @ Life with Sprinkles on Top said...

*I* need to start exercising again. Especially since I won't be giving up sugar either. Good for you for getting back on the wagon!

I'm am such a sugar addict, too! I especially love cake! Now if I could just get myself to work out I wouldn't feel so bad about indulging!

Me too! I recently realized thweight had to come off, and my aunt gave me this whole spiel about the no sugar thing. Then I grabbeda handfull of peanut M&Ms. So, busted out the treadmill, did push-ups, and am hoping that by September to knock off 15 pounds. My arms hurt. My legs hurt. I found muscles I forgot I had. So far, down 2.5. Now I need to hit the treadmill.

I'm with you. A few weeks ago, I gave up sugar and Diet Coke. I made it a week and a half without sugar. I'm still without the Diet Coke, though! Ugh - I'm going to have to exercise more!

ha, here i am posting about a food revolution and you are eating cupcakes! lol.
as long as they are real, real sugar, real butter, real cocoa...it's ok to splurge. i think since you go to traders you are getting more quality food.
bravo for your workouts too dear! think of all the muscle weight you gained and still lost 6 lbs! that is awesome!

I run...I don't race either...but I do it so that I can enjoy food and feel strong and show my kids what is healthy. I could NEVER give up treats. They make me happy. And so does running. It is ME time. Keep it up darling because I've been to France and well, the ladies there, they eat lots of sweets and cream and baguette and butter and they look UNBELIEVABLE. And so will YOU!

I USED to run...till the knees caved in. Now I still eat the sugar, but just limit myself to one...maybe two cupcakes!

I'm eating red vines as I am reading this! I can not live a day with out sugar...I think I'd rather exercise then give it up! Guess I should get going on that one!! Have a great weekend!

You are a woman after my own heart...I love cupcakes, but detest gyms. Hence the reason I became a yoga instructor. Now, I really am 'in the moment' when I eat my cupcake ~ ahhh, the pleasures of zen and sugar!

That is hilarious...you're a woman after my own heart! LOL You eat your sugar and lose 10 pounds at the same time!

I am so with you. I could never give up sugar and I have to go to the gym and workout and I hate it. I guess it's a necessary evil for us sweet teethed gals.

Those cupcakes make my mouth water. Our family has gone on the anti-sugar campaign to help get our cravings in check, not so much for weight, but to avoid the fork hitting the plate and the "what's for dessert" question, including sometimes after breakfast!

Good for you for making it happen and getting to the gym! I just started doing videos at home and preparing my body as gardening season is almost here and I have salsa waiting to be made! :)

Chablis said...

You must've sent all 6 lbs my way because that's exactly how many I've gained in the past month....:)

Loved this post and love your new header!

I am a sugar girl too. I have been hitting the gym and I've lost 18 pounds since January, but I have been eating lots of chocolate chips- they are monounsaturated fats and actually good for you. It's the only way I can survive trying to get this baby weight off.

Megan said...

You are so real and I dig that. I don't know what kind of frosting is on that cupcake in your photos, but it looks divine. I think you've got the right idea with just enjoying the things you love. I love cupcakes and wine too and nothing can convince me that I would be happier without them. Everyone that I know that has given it up is so darn grumpy! Life is too short, I say eat sugar and be happy!

kinda hate you just a little for the 6 lbs, I started working out 4-6 days a week in October with the goal of loosing 5 lbs before the New Year...and I didn't lose 1 oz, actually gained 1/2 lb! So then I challenged myself to a sprint triathlon in June and also stepped away from the scale...so I haven't stepped on the scale since Jan, and today got into a size 12 (I'm a tall/big girl) for the first time since I was prego with my 1st kiddo 9 years ago!!! Have no idea what my lbs look like, but I feel great and I also ate about 10 cookies that my husband made last night!

A kindred spirit! Kept scrolling back and forth to have another gander at that cupcake (is it from Starbucks?), imagining all its goodness.

Nah, I don't have sugar issues :-)

Great job on losing the unwanted weight. After years of fighting the good fight, I caved, hide the sugar bowl and lost the weight. I can have a cupcake (or two), but just have to balance it out with a few good walks.

Why am I suddenly thinking that a cupcake would be great for breakfast? Sugar has always been my downfall too, cannot get enough of it...seriously! I run so that I can keep my sweet habit. Maybe if I could just give it up temporarily I could lose the rest of this baby weight! Have a great weekend.

Oh, I love you! You are my kind of girl...I LOVE sugar too and would never give it up! I walk 5-6 days a week though, I'm not super buff, but I am strong and I feel great! Moderation in all things but leave my sugar alone, sugar! LOL Come say hi :D

6 is something to celebrate. Im down 19 over 6 months working at another 8. Never ever lost weight before. Gotta say Im proud of myself but DAMN that cupcake looks better than my new A _ _!!!!!
I HATE HATE exersize. Dont do it unless it means walking from shop to shop... Heres to cupcakes!!! Your so close to 10 for your trip just find fun exersize and give up one sugar filled goodie each day. Have FUN on your trip you deserve it...

I almost licked my monitor! Yummy! I had a bit of a panic attack today. I swore I was going to lose weight before this summer. I can not take another mushy middle now that we are in FL. Well, the weather was warm today and I was panicking that I was running out of time. Got to get the move on. And I sold the darn treadmill when we moved and I don't have my walking buddy anymore!

I'm with you there! Love that sugar (and cupcakes). Actually cake is my downfall. My sweetie knows when we go to a wedding, we're not leaving until I've had champagne and cake. And I LOVE those stupid grocery store sheet cakes because the frosting has SO MUCH SUGAR!

Kudos on 6 pounds - get a Wii Fit Plus for your Wii and you won't have to go to the gym. Since April 25th of 2009 I lost 30 pounds using the Wii Fit and went from a size 12 jeans to a size 4 - Hubs lost 40, Darling Daughter saw the results and wanted one for her B-Day in September, she's lost 40 and Daughter in Law wanted one too and she's lost 30. I went from 34/29/40 to 32/26/35.5 it's as yummy as those cupcakes that I'd only have half.....

Bravo for saying this. Every time I read about someone giving up sugar, I think: I should probably do that. But I don't want to either. I like sugar, too. So I make "sacrifices" in other areas so that I can indulge my sweet tooth a little. So far it has worked for me.
