It's official.
Fin has seen happier days.
like this:
Happy ...
Not Happy.....
The world is going to
END.....
Life is
SO MUCH FUN.....
life will
NEVER BE THE SAME......
After two failed vision screenings at school...
and a trip to the opthomologist...
this boy will be now have to wear glasses.
When we showed up at the eye wear boutique...
he wanted
NOTHING
and i mean
NOTHING
to do with trying them on.
He tried on 4 pairs of glasses...and finally decided on the O.P pair in the middle
because of the camouflage sides.
I told him those are what the army men wear when they are headed into battle.
He didn't buy it.
He told me army guys don't wear glasses.
I said....of course they do....
those are the guys driving the tanker trucks.
It was then that he cracked a smile.
Battle won.

first...he is adorable! nice to see so many eyeglass options for kids now-a-days...my cousins little girl had to start early wearing them...but i have to say...she looks quite chic...
awww he looks adorable! but, of course...telling him that will make it worse. lol
My two youngest had to start wearing them at about Finn's age..now they look forward to their yearly visit when they get to pick out new glasses.
He is a doll..umm a handsome doll!
((Get the insurance..it is worth it's weight in gold.))
Oh and how adorable he looks too!!
hahaha...this post cracked me UP! :) I've worked in optical for about 5 years and I can't tell you how many times I've seen this face...
and how many hilarious things moms have said to convince their kids that glasses look good...only to give up halfway through and force them on their kids haha. I'll have to remember the army line!
Most Memorable:
Adorable mom: "But sweetie Spongebob wears these exact glasses, and you love spongebob!"
Not-so-convinced boy: "Spongebob is a sponge, mom....he doesn't HAVE to wear glasses."
Adorable mom: "He wears pants though, right? because he HAS to...same thing with the glasses, so spongebob or not, you're getting them. Stop crying!!! Put them on!!"
9 times out of 10, a trip to the optometrist leaves a happy kid crying. I wish I didn't feel like the bad guy! hahaha
kasey...he looks so stinkin cute in those...i a l w a y s wanted to wear glasses when i was a kid...
and i cant get over how much he looks like my landon...totally could pass for twins
♥rebecca
Kasey, Give him one day at school and all the attention from all the other kids and he will love his glasses. My daughter has worn them since 3 and back then she was the only one. Now 1/4 of the fourth grade wears them. I always let her pick them out herself even if I don't like them as she will have to wear the frames for the next year and a half or so. We actually go in next week for her eye exam and new glasses (poss. contacts). If it means anything tell him he looks TOUGH with those glasses on!
he looks so cute and not that he'll care now, but I'm sure there will be plenty of little girls after him all the more... I know I like a man in glasses... I asked my hubby to give up his contacts. Not that it will matter to him now, but someday...
Aw, poor Fin. I happen to think he's adorable in those glasses.
But look how darn cute he is in them :)
Kristin
I have figured it out...you know why I heart you so much...
you are so funny I laugh my socks off on a terrible day...but not terrible day at the same time...does that make any sense?...
you remind me of the keynote speaker at my conference...you are so stinkin' funny and say it straight up...
and this is the kicker to me...
you truly believe it is 5:00 somewhere:)
Anyway...your Fin just looks so adorable in any of those...probably a difficult time for him but great for you that you were so quick on your feet with the army response:)
Glasses or not...he is so darn cute! ~mary~
He really DOES look cute. My son had to wear little red glasses when he was four. I loved those! Your son is just adorable!
Suzanne
I think he looks great!
I think he's a cutie-patootie...glasses on or off!
gah! he is the cutest glasses wearing kid ever! Get the blue ones too. Those are to die for on him. They're accessories. He needs both pairs!
Oh, wow, what a sweetheart! He looks so cute in glasses. I love that you told him army men wear those. So sweet.
Oh, wow, what a sweetheart! He looks so cute in glasses. I love that you told him army men wear those. So sweet.
Sounds like a rough one, good save mom! I would have picked those glasses too, he has good taste like him mama!!
He looks awesome in glasses!! He should be in a Vision Works ad or something!!
:)
Ruth
First of all, if any boy can pull of glasses, it would be him! Secondly, my husband is Air Force and flies, and has glasses!! Glasses are not limiting... I'm happy he came around!
What a cutie he is! I love your story. How sweet. You take awesome photos. I love your header.
Poor Fin, he doesn't look happy at all! He does look so cute in his glasses though! My boy had to have glasses when he was in kindergarten and he was not so happy either! Good save with the army comment, mom! He'll come around! Wait until he breaks his first pair! We went thru several pairs those first couple of years, good luck!
He is just such a cutie, love that blonde hair!!! He looks like such a big boy, tell him I said that. (like it'll help) He does look really sweet in them though.
well he's a hunk in his glasses but I know the feeling! i had to get glasses when i was three :-/ the good news is, glasses are trendy now!
He's so irresistibly cute! I know that won't help him to love them, but there is some serious cuteness going on.
Poor little guy. I can relate. I do love him in glasses though! I like the blue rimmed ones. ;)
I was an army brat and boy oh boy could I show you pictures of LOTS of army guys wearing their "birth control" glasses. lol That is what my dad calls them. haha
Army guys have to be able to see all the bad guys really really good! ;)
Aww... he looks adorable in glasses! He picked a great pair!! :) I remember getting glasses when I was young and they did NOT have cool glasses back then... not cool at all. :(

Ah, but he looks so cute!!!!
And yes, I'll be in town all of July. Can't wait to see you again!!
You'll have to tell me all about France. sigh.
omg he is too cute! My little bro had to wear glasses at a very young age ...he was very blonde too ..reminds me of him. so cute.
Awww sweet boy! My little man was 4 when he got his glasses and he felt the same, still now at 10 wishes he didn't have to wear them and asks when he can get contacts! But my husband IS an Army man and he wears them too and is the best shot in his unit...so tell Finn he looks great and glasses are worn by heroes! He looks very handsome!
and to think I BEGGED for glasses when I was little, bought "fake" glasses at one point ( hey I'll do anything to appear smarter! HA!), and alas...finally got my wish! He looks so darn cute, bring him a funky glass case from France! Which, by the way did you get the book "Flea Markets of France"? a different one daily all over France- we went even to the tiniest, 14 vendors "fleas"- pack an empty flat suitcase inside your suitcase. You can put your clothes in it on the way home, and you goodies in the "real" suitcase!
Have fun! remember, Fin, Clark Kent wore glasses! Monica
So cute.
awww poor Fin, he still looks like a cutie to me! :)
He's such a cutie with or without the glasses....maybe he'll outgrow them someday. My sister had BIFOCALS from age 2 until about 12 and now her eyes are just fine...STRANGE I know, but it can happen! Now he needs some cool camo outfits to wear with the glasses : )
What a cutie! I think he picked a good choice here! Can you imagine if kids today had to wear the kind of glasses we had to wear?! All I know is why didn't someone tell me that hot pink bottle rimmed glasses are never cute not even in Pink!
Your kids are so darn cute!!!
You are an awesome mom!
Fin is adorable!
Take Care,
Maria
Nicely done Kasey. And fin looks adorable. ;)
That was very clever to say the guys who drive the tankers wear glasses. Florence
Il est très mignon!
: )

Fin wull be wearing soon lenses and as adult he will be a wonderful guy so don't worry Kasey... But he's so sweet in his desolated expression....
Hugs!!!!!!

We just went through the same thing with my 3 year old. We threw a "glasses party" to celebrate.... check it out. http://kljswilson.wordpress.com/2010/02/20/any-excuse-to-throw-a-party/
Good luck!

Oh my! He's so very cute though! My baby girl, Aubrie, got glasses at 20 months & I was devastated as much as she was. She's so stinking cute in them thought that now I can't imagine her sweet face without them. Plus, now she can actually see - hopefully in time he'll be happy about seeing better. A great place for advice is http://littlefoureyes.com/ :)
He is sooo cute! I love the pic of his camo glasses...his face says it ALL!!! Presh :-)
You tell your lovely little boy that my hubby is in the Army and 9 out of 10 of the guys he works with regularly wear glasses! :) Including my hubby! They've gone over to fight the bad guys twice as a unit & could not have won if they couldn't see them! ;)
Clever girl Kasey....he looks pretty cute too. I hope you got my email about France...xv
He's so cute! I loved your army guy story, I actually know an army guy who wears glasses and drives tanks...so it's true (I'm also married to an army guy who wishes he wore glasses...!). :-)
Awww. You just want to scoop them up and hug them until the sadness goes away. Tell him we all thinks he looks GREAT!
Oh, that face is adorable . . . even if it is pretty sad!! Good thinking on the tank, Mom!
I feel for him! My step-kids used to get sooooo jealous, they inherited their dad's good vision - (48 and DAMN him he does not need glasses!!!???!!?!?) When they went with me to get my new glasses they always WANTED GLASSES. Goofballs!
Luckily I had lasik so I now feel part of the family.
Awww poor kid. I can't imagine my rowdy 6 year old son getting glasses. But if Fin doesn't look the cutest in those glasses...hehe. Adorable! I'm sure he doesn't even want to hear that.
P.S. I know what you're going through, my 9 year old daughter had to get glasses a couple years ago. It was a big adjustment but became second nature very quickly. She couldn't believe the differences when she wore them home the first time. She was saying things like..."Mom, I never knew you had freckles." "Oh the trees are so pretty."
Good luck! :)
When my daughter was twelve she started wearing glasses and was so cute but didn't think so - eventually they will grow up and get contacts and they will not even have to worry about glasses.
He looks cute in them.
didn't think that precious boy could get any cuter
then
he put those glasses on
my goodness..eat him up
Your such a fun mom! He is adorable in glasses. And the reward is...you can see...take it from one who knows. We all end up with glasses past age 50.
I had to get glasses early on in my day, too. Hated it. But, loved seeing the world in crisp textures and hues again. He will buy into it eventually ;)
Army guys definetly DO wear glasses! I so wish I could send you a picture of my husband in boot camp with his military issued thick rimmed brown ones. With the goofiest grin on his face:)Fin would laugh his little butt off!!
My son is almost 16 yrs. old and when he was in 1st grade he had to start wearing glasses. He was so cute but it is hard on them when they are that little. Your son is very cute in them.
Good luck.
tell Fin the camo are fav too.very fly (did i date myself with that one lol)
Oh too cute! :) It must be a hard adjustment as a child, they are so on the go, it seems like they'd just be cumbersome. I have to get an eye exam in a few weeks, I am wondering if I will need a pair myself. I've never worn corrective lenses, but my eyes are getting worse as I've gotten older.
Aw, poor Fin! My Max had to start wearing glasses last year but because his Dad wears them it was a little easier to convince him they were cool. I hope he gets used to them soon. He does look adorable in them :O)

your son might enjoy reading this
book
www.randykazandy.com
it's all about a boy and his glasses(very funny/ cute)
good luck
we have pairs everywhere!
awww....my son was the same age too when he got glasses. He now is almost 12 and is wearing contacts.....oh my!! He looks darling and the girls will think so too:)
Bless his lil' heart!!!
My sweet six year old grandson has worn glasses since he was two. They are the first thing he reaches for in the morning; because he KNOWS he will miss something in this wonderful world if he does not have them on.

My favorite little guy in the blog world is now bespectacled. Im certain he will still be the cutest toe head around. You may remind Harry Potter has glasses & he's fabulous.
He is so incredibly cute and looks adorable in his new glasses. Way to sell them mama! You rock!
Oh my goodness he is precious! I remember when I had to get glasses in 2nd grade and at the time it was, by far, the worst day of my life! And to make it worse, I picked out pink splatter painted glasses...eeekkkk! Why didn't anyone stop me?!! :)

He looks pretty cool in those "army" glasses! My little man (5 yrs.) would be sold on those! Looks like they make stylish glasses for kids now too! I hope he adjusts well to he whole idea of them soon! :)
camo glasses. perfect. he looks so cute!!
Fin is cute any way, but so adorable with galsses! My little one (age 6) went through the same thing this school yr. He wanted nothing to do w/it, glasses weren't cool. Until I told him they were "gun metal" color, then he caved. They are so sweet in glasses.
