Counting the days.....

It's right around the corner.....

actually...just over two weeks if anyone was counting.

I'm at the stage where i am putting everything together...

and getting organized.

I have a feeling i will be all packed this weekend.

Remember when you were pregnant with your first child...

you had a list for the hospital on what to pack...

a checklist...

remember how you had your list all checked off...

and packed a good two months before

your baby was even due.

yup....

i did the same.

It made you feel like it's official...

bag is packed...

now i can have the baby.

Then as your due date came closer..you would unpack your bag...

only to make sure everything was still there...

and then re-pack it.

Just to make sure.

I'm sure you did it more then once....

i'm just saying...

it happens.

Like this trip of mine.

It's a dream that in turn is becoming a reality.

Except this time...

i'm not having a baby...i'm travelling to France.

I have dreamt about this for years....

and it's becoming a reality.

I am blessed.

I am thankful.

I've been practicing riding our little Metro around town...

just in case Kim and I decide we need one.

Kim told me NO....

there is no room for our luggage..

Seriously....

how much does she think i'm packing?

I know i said i was ONLY

going to pack 3 pairs of shoes....

but i bought 3 pairs today....

in addition to the three i was already going to bring.

Have i mentioned yet that we are renting a manual

car while we are in the south of France?

Manual=stick shift

I haven't driven a manual since high school...

neither has Kim.

Manual+narrow roads+french signs= Lost girls.

Unless we get lost down in the french riviera...

and end up meeting George Clooney..

who has a yacht down there.

hmmm.

Needless to say...

i think a Vespa is sounding better and better.

I wouldn't normally even have looked twice at these...

would have just walked right by them...

i would have.

i promise.

Except.....they were on sale.....

and i have a feeling

will be walking the streets of Paris...

so i must be prepared.

Then i walked my these mustard beauties.....

and they were

not on sale.

boo hiss.

I then remembered that my husband has decided

to have lasik eye surgery next week...

which he informed me that

he will be laid up for a day or so.

I'll be taking care of him...

and my three kids.

I decided at that point...

what's an extra pair of shoes.

I also needed a new camera bag....

because i couldn't just throw my beloved

5oD

into just any ole purse while i wander around the

streets of Paris.

NO

i couldn't.

Her name is Ginger....

even though i really LOVED the Lola...

but red and i don't really get along...

so Ginger it is.

She's cute....

and so versatile...

with compartments inside for all my lenses.

I decided i am only bringing a few outfits.

{ahem}

Maybe a few more if i can figure out which shoes to

not bring.

I promised myself that i wouldn't be

that girl

who over packs.

{sigh}

My darling neighbor gave me her birthday discount card for Anthro.

I haven't stepped into that place for a good....

ummmm....

hmmmm....

couple of months.

errr...

maybe it hasn't been that long....

for sure it's been a couple of weeks...

at least.

I think.

hmmm.

oh well....

who's counting...right?

Thanks for letting me ramble about this whole pregnancy thing...

you girls are amazing.

xo

If you want, I can help remind you how long it has been since you have visited Anthro...
If we rent vespas, we will be on *separate* vespas thus not able to chat. No chatting=No fun.
And think of the stories we will have from our stick shift adventures!

Oh lovely, lovely, lovely! All of it, the shoes, the Ginger bag, and the outfits! You are going to have an amazing time! As for the manual driving, it's like riding a bike, you will be just fine! Have fun with your packing!

I've always been of the opinion that the shopping for the clothing/footwear for the trip was half the fun of the trip itself. If that's so, you're already on your way to a marvelous time : )!!

Bonjour Lola,
You girls are going to have the best time! My only advice, make sure you break in your new shoes BEFORE you hit the Paris streets - trust me on this...
Love that sweet pair you're wearing on riding the scooter.
Good evening to you,

Bon Voyage

aahadley offers excellent advice. My father took me on trips as a child and always insisted we get up before daybreak and walk in the early morning light- we would always write our first impressions on a new place, before any photos are taken, take in the view, write your thoughts and then start clicking the camera

we euoropeans say that "if you do not drive a manual car, then you shouldn't drive at all", because driving is not just going from point A to point B, it is much more...

I hope you will have a wonderful time and weather, because lately we had strange weather conditions in entire Europe- snow blizard in Barcelona, Italy etc.

But it will be worth it because you will be in PARIS, France.

Lucky you....ok the key to having fun abroad is PACK LIGHT. I have been there 3 times and always wished I had pack 1/2 of what I took. My favorite near Nice is Ville France up in hills an artists town that is so much more than words can explain...also Eze. In Paris, you can't miss Sacre Couer and Montmare where the painters market place is also up there right by the church....that is also where the best flea markets in Paris are....heaven!

J'adore Paris - when I was last there we stayed in a gorgeous boutique hotel in the Le Marais district on 19 rue du bourg-tibourg 75004 Paris; worth a sneaky peak in their rooms - they are beautifully designed http://www.bourgtibourg.com/
I am so very jealous....and I love the mustard shoes you are taking, they remind me of my favourite blue shoes shoes I have from Comptoir des Cotonniers. I will post a picture for you on my blog:

I hate to be practical and boring, but make sure you bring some really comfy walking shoes, even if they're not the cutest. I spent a week in France a few years ago, and believe me you will regret it if you wear shoes that hurt your feet. I'd pick the two most comfy pair you own and bring them, and leave the heels behind! We tried to pack in as much as possible, and after a few days my feet were so sore I could hardly walk- if it weren't for my ultra cushy bottomed sandals, I never would have made it! Have fun!
