Pretty things....

It's been another one of those weeks....

and in the whole realm of things...

something like my heart breaking over something that

really is not that big of a deal...

it's so silly actually.....

but when it involves one of my children..

it matters to me.

I wish i could stand up and shout out...

no..

this can't be happening...

but it's going to..

and how i wish i could write it all out right now..

so i could hear feedback from you...

but not today.

Change happens whether we like it or not.

Anyway.....

Pretty things are on my mind.

Like these pretty plates from Anthro....

4 of them to be exact.

Perfect for having a little lemon bar party of your own.

Pretty things like these chandie shades that i finally took some

photos of for you.

Remember the post 2 weeks ago that i told you about my

creative neighbor making these gorgeous shades...

I finally semi~dusted my chandie so i could get some decent

shots for you.

I even have a large one....

because i love pretty things.

I realize some of you like pretty too...

maybe you would like your own pretty shade...

or a few chandie shades?

we painted Lola's room last weekend.

ummmm.

okay...you got me....

i didn't mean we as in my husband and i...

but my fabulous painter guy did.

Can you tell the difference?

My little Fin and his bestie sure like to play in lola's room...

i don't get it...

i think he's like me...

and needed some pretty that day.

I realized last weekend that when Lola said

NO

to a pale grey room....

that maybe aliens had abducted my real daughter..

and brought some random girl in her place.

ahem...

but then my real Lola returned to me when

she said...

let's just keep it cream.

So she got a fresh coat of paint.....

a tad bit darker....

but pretty.

We like pretty things.

Pretty things are on my mind. I ran to Barnes & Noble this morning

to grab the newest Boho magazine...

which features Paris in the springtime.

I love Boho magazine.

Are you still here?

hello?

buehler?

If you are...and you need a bit of pretty today....

just leave a comment.

It's the i need something pretty today giveaway;-)

One lucky winner will get a custom shade {like above} or 3 mini chandie shades...

4 pretty plates from Anthro....

my favorite Tokyo milk lip balm from Anthro...

{i promise i didn't use it yet}....

oh...

and the current spring issue of Boho.

Blog or tweet about it...and i'll double your chances.

Down to Earth - I always think of those words when I read your posts. Simplicity. It's as if you're a mom, a person I know - you grab me. My sons are grown but when you talk about your children I just sigh and remember. The shades are dreamy, the room and photos lovely... the boys - oh, boy! Jennifer

I had replies swirling in my head even before I saw that generous and gorgeous giveaway. Three boys I have. Life happens and, mostly, it's a happy ol' life but, sometimes, I wish I could throw myself in front of the train of change and take all the knocks for them.

I saw the post where those two fellas came and ate the girls lemon squares and played on their tea party table and set up a star wars scene. I laughed and laughed - my boys love my pretty things too but always think that it would be just a bit better if I added legos to the centrepiece!

I saw the shade being made but didn't realize how stunning and PRETTY they'd be - you have a wonderfully put together home. It makes me happy to see it. Thanks for sharing!

Love, Kate

I need some pretty today. I got engaged a few weeks ago and then that night my fiance went back to Australia, where I thought I'd be following him back shortly. The day I was supposed to leave, I realized that the visa I had planned to go over on wasn't correct and the only one I can apply for can take up to 6 months to get granted. I am trying to think on the positive side of things, but being engaged and not getting a chance to celebrate it and not being sure when I will see my fiance again has really gotten me down. Thanks for the opportunity to win. Anthropologie is such a great store.

I'm doing two giveaways on my blog right now, too, if anyone is interested (hope it's ok to add this here). littleddownunder.blogspot.com

When one of my kids was recently going through a difficult time and my heart was breaking for her, someone told me, "you're only as happy as your saddest child." So true! I hope your situation improves soon. I love your beautiful blog!

you have such a lovely house and lovely taste. would love to win!

Oh my gosh, I would be so excited to win this. First off, I adore all things boho. Secondly, those plates are gorgeous and that lamp shade is so pretty!! I just moved into a new place so the plates and shade would help liven things up around here. I've heard about Tokyo Milk soap and scents and lip balm, but I've yet to try it. Would love to. My birthday is March 18th, so hopefully it'll give me a little b-day luck ;) Thank you!!

Hi Kasey, sorry that your heart is breaking for one of your kiddos. My heart is always breaking every time one of my kiddos is hurt, scared, confused....that's what we do as mommy's. Hope all is well. Really adore your Lola's room, what a pretty shade of cream. I could really use something pretty about now. I am so homesick. Okinawa is beautiful, but there's no place like home. I feel like I've had a really nice vacation but it's time to go home, only we have a lot longer to go on this vacation! Have a lovely day!

Whew, when I was reading the beginning of your post I thought "this is what I've been saying in my head all week" about a heart breaking episode with my oldest son this week. I wanted to shout out "But, it's just not fair!", but I couldn't. So, I totally get how you're feeling!

I would love if you would enter me into the giveaway because I love the shades and + I've been looking for someone to make shades for me for my barn sales!

when my kids are ok, I'm ok, when they're not, I'm not. simple as that.
